Company policy. Obviously GameStop doesn't close on holidays.

Some places are open on Canada Day here but the majority are closed. That's just the way it is.

...heh, here it's almost impossible to get anything as most places are closed on holidays. I guess it's a worker union thing. Which are much common in Sweden.

I know they close on Christmas, but not New Year's or the 4th of July. So only some holidays.

Probably not. If it's your average Bigass Megacorp (See also American supermarket chain Stop & Shop), I imagine they close on Christmas, and....that's it.

ALSO: Speedrunning the NES Rygar is a pain in the ass.

...Please at least tell me you're trying to level up in Lapis. :\

Rygar's not a long game or anything but I actually spent an afternoon a few months ago running through it. Great fun.

But hey, at least we closed up at six. See journal for more bitching as to why people go to the mall on the 4th. Cause I'm not in the mood to repeat myself.

But pretty much the three of us that were there, we were just watching ID4 and then Incredibles, so we were as laid back as possible that day.

people in canada have the decency to not make money on a holiday... other than christmas day and thanksgiving day, is there a holiday day (not weekend) in which people don't try to make money on?

Actually, in the US at least, everyday, at least something is open. On XMas and Thanksgiving, you have the small kiwki-stops, movie theatres and some restruants. So on everyday, every year and at any time, something is open.

I often wonder how many people go to see movies on Christmas Day. It must be a considerable amount for movies to open on Christmas. Either that, or it just makes the opening date easy to remember.

I used to work in the projection booth at a theatre and I had to work one XMas...all day at that and by myself. Oh, I had fun running 24 projectors that were split on two seperate floors. Thankfully, my fiance had also worked there (but not at that time) and came by to help me out.

I do have to level up (Unfortunately), but I won't do it in Lapis, no. The route I use through the game saves Lapis as the last thing I do before Ligar's castle, and I need strongth (Welling. In my body.) before then.

Lapis last? I guess that's possible since you don't get any equipment for beating it. The emulator runs focus on Lapis for levelling which makes sense since the Bargans there give really good experience.

No, I couldn't have just gone home, since I am the 2nd in charge in that store and I really don't want to be fired.

Trapster, work is not like school. You could maybe get away skipping one day of school, but you can't get away with skipping work like that.... especially when you're paid for it.

I'm actually thinking of working in a game store, then... maybe it's the wrong job for me considering how shy I am.

You only get off of work if you have a REALLY good excuse (sick/emergency/etc.), you have the day off due to scheduling, you have vacation time to use or force majeure/act of God comes into play, basically.
