Yes, yes. They're fairly funny. Most of the people I know in real life like his works, though I'm fairly indifferent to them. The style is just not the sort of thing I like...

This if from the book "Men at arms". Or more precisely, on the back of it.

"Be a MAN in the City Watch! The City watch needs MEN!"

But what it's -got- includes Corporal Carrot (technically a dwarf), Lance-constable Cuddy (really a dwarf), Lance-constable Detritus (a troll), Lance-constable Angua (a woman ... most of the time) and Corporal Nobbs (disqualified from the human race for shoving).

And they need all the help they can get. Because there's evil in the air and murder afoot and something very nasty in the streets.

It'd help ifit could all be sorted out by noon, because that's when Captain Vimes is officially retiring, handing in his badge and getting married.

And since this is Ankh-Morpork, noon promises to be not just high, but stinking."

For once, Trapster has something right. Discworld is awesome. I personally think the Death books are the best, starting with Mort, with the best one being Reaper Man.

The books following Rincewind are also great.

Neither have I, but only because there's still no English translation of the game, at least the last time I checked. :\

I want to get into Ys I and II - and I'll play the Turbo version (which was a sleeper when it was released in America) if I can figure out how to burn the image.

There is a Discworld game for PC too, very old ones.

I read one of the Discworld book for way too long time ago. :\

Actually, there were two Discworld games, each with some very amusing and enjoyable voice acting from one of the guys from Monty Python (forget the name right now) doing Rincewind's voice (who you control) in a wonderfully funny and sarcastic manner, and Tony Robinson from Blackadder doing other voices, and some more famous Brits doing some voices I believe...

They were those point and click mystery games like Sam & Max. Very funny, with Rincewind himself stealing the show.

WHY is Ys called Ys?

Ys is called Ys because Ys is all that the Ys team could come up with.

Also, I decided to make this - took a while to do and I have no where else to post it, so why not.

Also on the junk plate is this:

Because it is called Ys. I never really bothered to read any back story on the game.

Eric Idle did the voice of Rincewind.

Well, to get into a bit of circular logic, Ys is basically the paradise world of the series; the entirety of Ys II takes place on Ys.

As for why they named the LAND Ys...no idea.

Colleen: Good luck with that. TG-CD games are sinister in that there's no copy protection whatsoever on them, yet somehow when you put the game in a drive it "knows" it's a TG-CD only game and you can't actually get to any of the files. Incidentally, if you place the games into an ordinary CD player, you can actually play most of the music on them fine i you start with track 3.

I'll have to test this to make sure I still remember right, but I think that's how it went.
