Yoshis are smart, but have a low literacy rate. (Not many go to school.  ) They are capable of learning English, but by default only speak in a very basic language consisting entirely of their name (which is probably what they're named for), similar to baby talk.As far as the dying-in-deep-water thing, perhaps they were amphibious, but over time evolved more into land creatures, therefore losing the ability to withstand the pressure in deep water? (But gaining the ability to survive on land, of course.) Also there's a real kind of lizard that squirts blood from its eye socket, so spewing one's digestive juices or other such fluid isn't all that hard to believe. |

| Actually, it seems there are several types of Yoshi eggs... Yoshies DO hatch from eggs (look at Star World in SMW for instance)...but the eggs in Yoshi's Island (that Yoshi throws) are probably really...poop. |
