| Are they really? =( Okay... yoshis eat things and lay eggs... and we've seen eggs hatch into yoshis... but we never see the entire process. This could mean that the eggs produced by yoshis which eat things are just a metabolic quirk, and have nothing to do with the eggs that contain baby yoshis. This is a plausible explanation for why the seemingly affectionate yoshis would fling these eggs at anything that moves. As for where the real yoshi eggs come from (the ones that would hatch into new yoshis), I propose that there is a yoshi "hive-queen" producing all of them. Due to nintendo's focus on family-friendly content, it is natural that we wouldn't have been exposed to the hive queen, because it would be a horrible spectacle to behold. Discuss. EDIT: Now that I think of it, in the "modern" version of Chef in the Game&Watch gallery games, Yoshi does eat food and then produce an egg which hatches into another yoshi. | Weird, a question about Yoshi's saddle turned into a 3 page topic ... Well like you said Kratos, we may never understand the Mario universe. Hence the whole "shrooms" deal.  What I've always wondered, is what exactly are the holes in many of the older Mario games? Does Mario just fall off of a cliff and die? Are they all floating islands like some levels in Mario 64? | naw, I wouldn't worry about the quality. I'm sure you know that you can do better if it were some big project, thus it looks fine for being thrown together. another yoshi question: the only word that yoshi can seem to say nowadays is "yoshi". But, in SMW yoshi seemed to have a lot to say to mario when they first met. Is this proof of the devolution of the yoshi race? |

| As was demonstrated in some comic I saw once, the word "yoshi" is the entire Yoshi lexicon, which does not hinder how well they can communicate with each other but does set up a rather tremendous language barrier for those not fluent in the language. I think in SMW Yoshi just had a translator, possibly based out of the block from which he emerged. | |||
