(To give even more info: DW:TLC was so big that it required banks to be moved around during expansion. Therefore, program code and other stuff, maybe the entire game, would be in the IPS, ruining the legality of the patch)

Ja, it was the Super Mario World saved by Lunar Magic. I didn't have an original outside a RAR file, so I got lazy and posted that bad version. I shoulda posted the good version in the first place.

But enough bickering now! Try it out!

Fu said that it only required expansion so he could test LunarExpand (or whatever it's called).

You fail.

First big thing I've run across: I just beat Eastern Island, and the level's appeared down below Mario, but I can't move down to it

Overall, it's been fun to play so far, but I'll make my comments when I'm done playing the hack If I'm not done it already, that is.

Eastern Island is the last stage for now. What do you think of it so far? Any recommendations? Should I change out some stages and perhaps put new ones in or something?

Make Super Jihad world! Toads and goombas with turbans, some parachute characters and an Osama Sprite at the end! The moment I saw this thread I snickered thinking "WTF!?". This is one of those hacks that would be good for a laugh in a good way.

I'm glad you liked my idea, but have you tried the game out? I'm trying to get opinions on the qualities of my overworld, stage creation, and playability. That way, I know what steps I should take next in developing this game. What is your opinion?

Ok then. I'll post my comments

The Overworld :
Not to state the obvious, but the island with Castle #2 on it is ugly I understand that it's supposed to be an island, but the grass on it's what makes it look bad The only thing I could think of to fix it is to get rid of all the green tiles, or make the green stuff raised up from the rest of the island.

This screenshot circles things on the first island that I thought could be fixed:

There may be other things, but those are what I noticed Other than that, the overworld looks pretty good.

Comments on the Levels:

Communist Island 1 :
It's raining coins! That's an interesting start to the first level, but there's still some things I noticed. Mainly the mountains in the background. It might take a bit of extra time to make another tile for the sides of the mountains, but it'll look better if you do.

Next, the platform after the platform with the halfway point on it. I don't like how the solid edge ends halfway down the side of the platform. There's two different tiles you can use for the edges; one that's solid, which is the one you're using right now, and one that you can walk through, and still looks good. I suggest you use the second one.

Communist Island 2 :
The only thing that catches my eye here is the abundance of clouds in the background Maybe remove one or two, because otherwise it looks cluttered (at least to me).

Communist Island 3 :
Once again, the thing with the mountains in the background Possibly add some coins to grab while you're running along the rope platforms.

#1 Igor's Castle :
In the part where you're riding on the wood platform, you might try adding some coins in there as well. Other than that, things look good in this level

Eastern Island :
Big thing here is what happens with the water when the screen scrolls up or down; the water follows you. There's probably not alot you can do in the way of that without completely changing the level so that the screen doesn't scroll up either The area down the pipe is rather plain as well. Adding hills or something in there for the player to jump up could make it more fun.

I was tempted to say something about the red background in the first two levels, but I didn't mind it actually Those things are just what I thought could be done with the levels. Other people might think differently, or see something I missed, so make sure you get their comments as well

I also read the stuff back on the first page about hosting, etc. The only hosting I have right now is at Freewebs, and that's for my old SMW hack, which I no longer do anything with anymore For images, I mostly use Tinypic, and then for files, YouSendIt. Sure, they're not really sites that provide hosting, but they still work for transferring / storing files

On the overworld... Those spheres. The area around them is a dark green; it should be the same color as the normal green around it.

On the title screen you posted, the Communist Star looks kind of like a Canadian Maple Leaf without the stem... Might want to fix that.. I suggest you add a hammer and sickel, look at a Soviet Union flag to make that.

Kratos Aurion,

Those are trees, but this won't be the final overworld. I'm going to have to look at how the original game does them. Thanks for pointing them out!

Karadur,

Thanks for your views! Ja, after I get done with the levels, I'm going to go in there and redo the whole overworld! I think I went too far ahead with the overworld, violating one of the points mentioned on the tips and hints thread: Do overworld with levels, or just do levels first, but don't jump ahead and do overworld first.

Communist Island 1: I see what you're talking about. That was a problem with the mountains that I saw. I wonder how Super Mario World resolved it? I wanna try not to modify gfx as much as possible.

About that platform, I can fix it in a jiffy. Thanks for pointing it out!

Communist Island 2: Done.

Communist Island 3: Good idea. I always forget the coins. They tend to come last, and they're a bit of work putting in.

#1 Igor's Castle: Done.

Eastern Island: I did this level somewhat sloppily. I think it can use an improvement. I wondered what caused the water to do that. Also, adding hills is something I can and should do.

Other comments: Well, it was Communist Island, and red is often associated with communism. So I thought it appropriate, and at least not that much of an eyesore.

Overworld: I can touch up that island. I actually wanted to see the varying elevations there. Editing maps with tiles is pretty difficult, because you gotta know where each tile has got to go where. It gets pretty tiring if you do too much at once, and that's pretty much what I did.

Hosting: Freewebs is working better now and the link works. I think that's what I'm gonna use, at least until I find something else or if an issue comes up. When I posted the hack, the transfer rate was too much for my Geocities account.

Somebody here really hates Bandwidth with a passion.

But anyway, I'll be glad to host for you.
I'll upload it in about 11 hours (right now, it's time to get some sleep,... or stay up late to finish homework... )

Edit: As for your own site, try looking here http://shyper.com/free/
If that doesn't workout well, then I'll still host for you.

AtmaX,

Thanks! When I need to upload something again, I'll gladly use your service!

Omnies,

Here's what I'm gonna do. I'm just gonna keep designing levels. Occasionally, I'll release one of my levels as a demo level as nice little treats for you guys. I'm just gonna keep designing stages (with various themes) till I have about 80 or so, then I'll design an overworld (or ask one of you to design an overworld) taking some of the stages. But that's not all, for the rejected stages, I'll create a special world (taking the place of say the Special World) for rejects. I'll probably have a 100+ goals for you guys to finish!
