Popodey was lounging sideways in a chair, and he looked around at the Slytherin common room. Most of the furniture, like the chair he was in, was very dark stained wood and black leather. There were a number of trophies resting on some of the cabinets. The walls were all stone, with an overlapping arch pattern carved into them and some dark green plants hanging relatively high up, and the large windows, through which one could see only water, affirmed Popodey's suspicion that they were currently under the lake. As he bit into an apple he had just grabbed from a nearby bowl, he was thinking that he could get used to this place.

He had no sooner thought this than a most annoying voice came unwanted from behind him.

Pansy Parkinson: Ugh! Remove yourself from my chair, you pest.

Popodey looked around the room again, confirming to himself that there were a number of identical chairs that were quite empty. However, he was already quite comfortable, and he wasn't going to let this obnoxious girl change that. As he turned around to face her, his dark eyes seemed to glow purple.

Popodey: Go sit in one of the other ones, pig face!

Without any argument, or even a single word, the girl went to the closest empty chair and sat down. She seemed as surprised as anyone by her actions, and a large number of Slytherins were looking back and forth between her and Popodey, quite confused. Finally Malfoy decided he was impressed enough to go over and talk to Popodey (probably much to Janus' relief).

Malfoy: I don't believe we've been properly introduced. I'm Draco Malfoy, and you are...?

Popodey: Not in the mood.

Malfoy: What was that!?

Popodey: You heard me.

Malfoy: You'd best watch what you say to me or-

Popodey: Or what? You'll complain to "Daddy"? Pfft. *stand up* If you'll excuse me, I have class in the mourning and I'd rather get some sleep before then.

And with that, Popodey headed toward the dorms, leaving Malfoy fuming with anger where he stood.

Two other Slytherin first-years ran up to either side of Popodey. One, a boy, had bright blue hair that was parted in the middle and fell loosely about halfway down his head. The other, a girl, had bright pink hair which had been placed in two pigtails, and strands of it came down in front of her ears in sort of curly swirls.

Boy: That was amazing! Talking to Malfoy like that!

Girl: From what I've gathered, most people let him get his way because of how much influence his father has...

Popodey: I'm not afraid of that pompous weasel or his father.

Girl: We gathered that much.

Boy: Er... My name's Billy.

Girl: And I'm Kidd.

Popodey: My name's Popodey Hand.

Popodey glanced at the two, expecting the usual chortle or laugh that accompanied his name. However, neither of the two seemed to find his name amusing. They reached the door to the Slytherin first-years dorm, and all three stopped. Billy and Kidd stared at Popodey for a moment, clearly uncertain as to whether or not they had gained his friendship. Finally he said...

Popodey: So, we'll see you tomorrow then, Kidd.

Kidd: Er.. yeah. Good night.

Popodey: Good night.

And with that, Popodey and Billy entered their dorm, and Kidd headed off towards her own.

Janus: "I like you, man."

If it weren't Hogwarts, someone would probably have been surprised to see a grown man in the first-year's dorm. In any case, Janus was getting into his nightclothes when Popodey and Billy entered. They were very well-received.

"That thing with the eyes, you can do it too? I can only make mine glow blue..."

Satchel (telepathy): "You dumbass! Wrong kind of magic!"

Janus looked at the bag for a second, recognizing his folly...

Janus: "Erm, anyway, thanks for getting that Malfoy fellow away from me. He's not exactly top-tier material, that's for sure. I'd hate to..."

And again, the Sorting Hat...

"...to...ah, hell, he's a dick. I'm going to bed. Damn blond-haired piece of trash... If he's any indication of what the rest of the student body is like, I'm gonna go on a cursing spree, or something."

Janus climbed into his four-poster, and dropped off to sleep almost instantly.

Percy guided the two sullen-faced girls back down the staircase where they were met by a crowd of students. The Head Boy's presence was enough to split the sea, but it couldn't keep the onlookers attention off of the new sortees who followed him. The students started to murmur among themselves trying to figure out who these new troublemakers were, while others just tried to get a better look. He reached the Gryffindor common room entrance, but before going in, turned to the crowd and gave them a firm command to stop loitering and get into the common room before a teacher, or worse, Peeves got to them.

The Head Boy led the way into the spacious and cozy room lighted by the miscellaneous floating candles and the very warming fire which a few students had already gathered around to ward off the chills they received from the contrasting damp and cold corridoors. In the common room was also a series of tables surrounded with comfortable chairs, along with couches and other chairs for lounging. The walls still didn't lack the various moving paintings giving the room a constant sense of security and activity. Bookcases also lined the walls which gave books to help students out with their studies or just a bit of light reading.

The students were reversly funneled into the common room. Veteran students immediately reaquainted themselves with their surroundings or went up more staircases to hit the hay a bit early. The new students were about to ignorantly do the same when suddenly Percy called them over.

Percy: First years! First years! Gather around, now! That's right. I am the Head Boy! Gather around, quickly!

((Sorry 'bout the, umm, long delay. I'm trying to break the slump though, promise.))

Kirby: This place looks all cool and cozy an' such.. but.. *rubs eyes* I'd prefer to marvel after sleep... And I need to check on Coo...

-------------------

Nakase's jaw seemed to remain unhinged as she looked around in the common room. Such a wonderfully built room.. A fireplace to curl up next to.. Cozy sofas to lounge on.

A few thoughts oozed through the girl's mind. She might enjoy sticking around if she can't figure out a plan.

Ka'nae, on the other hand, was already irritated. It was getting quite stuffy in his hiding place, and the warm room was not helping.

Staying in his bed in Gryffindor tower, Justin Butler thought about his family at his home. His parents were "Muggles," non-magical folk, but his sister Brittany was unknown, as she was not yet old enough to go to ogwarts. The Butler family was originally from America, but moved to Britain a few years ago. When they first received the Hogwarts letter for Justin, they did not know what to make of it. A representative of Hogwarts had come and taught him quite a few things about Hogwarts and proved the existence of maigc, so here comes Justin to magic school.

In the morning Justin was going to have transfiguration, potions, and charms. These sound interesting, he thought.

Percy looked over the gathering crowd of first years from the third step of a stairwell which led further up the tower.

Percy: Settle down, settle down! Yes, I do believe that this is everyone. Very well then ... Welcome, first years, to Gryffindor Tower. I am the Headboy, as you can tell by my badge, Percy Weasly, and you may come to me for any questions or needs that you may have. If I am not around, you could ask for help from one of the very able Prefects. You can tell them apart by the "P" they wear on their uniform.

Now, the room we are in right now is the Gryffindor Common room. It is most 'common'-ly used for doing homework, playing a good game of Wizard's Chess, or just having a chat with some friends. To my left is the House's bulletin board. This is where administrative and student notices go, and it is always wise to check on it every morning before you go down stairs to the Great Hall for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, it will be served from seven o'clock in the morning until eight thirty. Tomorrow, you will receive your schedules from the Head of our House, Professor McGonagall. Classes start at nine. Now, I'm guessing you are all quite tired, so I will point you in the direction of your dormitories. The boys dormitories go up the stairs behind me and to the left, and for the girls, the same thing but to the right.

Teddylot, being the one student with the most energy. led the way up the stairwell at a dash. Reaching the top, the boys seperated from the girls and headed up another flight. Teddylot was first up and opened the very thick oak door. The room was quite big, enough to fit this years large first year body, and all of the boys' trunks were already brought up and set at the feet of the several four-poster beds, quite a relief as everybody was quite tired.

Teddylot: *leaps through the curtains of one of the four-posters* I call this bed! *sticks his head out for a second* This is Teddylot territory now, punks!

Kirby: Oh come on!

Coo: Bloody hell! Do you not see the conditions I am to be stuck with?!

Kirby: Well.. there's food... and some nice places to perch in..

Coo: With feces stained all over the place! I am a character with refined tastes. I do not mind roughing it, but this is bloody insulting.

Kirby: If it bugs you that much, then go sleep out there.

Kirby pointed out at the forest. Both the boy and the owl looked beyond the Owlry. Kirby and Coo then looked at each other, with he bird giving off a rather dull look.

Coo: I say, you do know it does not seem very alluring at this time of night.

Kirby: .... It'll be like camping out at Whisper Woods. Atleast this time you don't have to just stick with eating apples.

Coo ruffles his feathers and clicks his beak. The thought of hunting down easy prey instead of apples did sound nice...

Coo: Alright. I'll stay around.

Kirby: Alright!

Kirby lunges at Coo and gives him a hug. The owl begins to panic and tries to pry himself away from the boy.

Coo: But you must do something for me. Bring me some books from the library. It should be awfully tiring to fly back home now.

Kirby: Entertainment? Cool. I can do that. Oh.. um... But you're gonna have to come back here. The students aren't allowed to go out to the forest.

Coo: ..... Pray tell wh--

Kirby: *pats Coo on the back* I need to get back, I'm sure they're telling us to go to bed now. See ya, Coo!

Coo: But! Oh... bloody hell..

----------------------

It was so nice and warm. The crackling fire nearby, the cushioned sofas...

Nakase felt like she was in heaven. She hasn't been able to live this comfortably in such aa long time. Unfortunately, her dreamy state was disturbed by a creature nipping at her from underneath her enormous coat.

"Ow!"

"I'm tired of being stuck in here! It's too hot!"

"Shut up!"

And with that, Nakase punched into her coat. Ka'nae was protected by the extensive padding of the fur coat, but he was still slightly smushed. Nakase then realized she was still in the common room. A nervous gigle escaped her mouth as she looked around. No one seemed to have noticed. Infact, there were hardly anyone even standing around.

With a sigh of relief, Nakase rested her head back down on her belly-side-up position on the sofa. It was a long, crazy day. She had almost forgotten the reason why she went through all the trouble.

"The idiot..."

She didn't care right now. All she wanted to do was just get some sleep...

Teddylot stuck his head out from the curtains one more time to see who created the commotion. He looked around, but since he didn't see anything, he pulled his head back into his solitary four-poster then plugged it out at the opposite side. It didn't take long for him to notice Guts at the foot of his bed in a awkward-looking position.

Teddylot: ... I pity the foo'! *pulls his head back in*

----------

Zap and Twister were next to stroll into the large room. On entering, both of their faces lit up at the sight of it. Twister raised his hand to shoulder level, and Zap fived it then shook it. They both tried to dim their happiness, but it was still easily noticeable in their new manner. Zap took a bed right next to Teddylot, but Twister, who knew what it was like to live with the teddy bear, took a bed on the opposite side of the room.

----------

Meanwhile, on the girl's side of the stairs, Kim plopped down onto her designated bed. The day was an exhausting one and she was ready to fall asleep right there and then but knew she had to get a few things done first. She sat up and covered her mouth with her hand to hide a long yawn. She took a few steps toward the foot of her bed and opened her trunk. She slid off her goggles and let them drop on top of her clothes, then began removing her stuff and placing them in the closest dresser. While organizing herself, she started to think about the day and what was to come. From what she could tell, this lifestyle would take a lot of acclimating to.

Kirby quickly stepped back into the Gryffindor Tower. He smiled as he walked through the common room. He had a strong urge to cause some trouble, no doubt from younger blood going through him. He then looked down.

Kirby: Wow... I think I know how Jimmy Kudo felt like.. Well sorta..

Kirby's eyes randomly wandered around. His gaze fell upon the girl who was laid out on the sofa. He immediately jumped back and became flushed.

Kirby: Whoa, bad timing for me to have said that entire phrase.

The boy scratched the back of his head as he walked towards the stairs.

Kirby: Sleepy sleepy sleepy...

As soon as he made it to a bed room, he headed towards the closest empty bed, hoping that his story would magically appear by the bed's side.

Kirby: *collapses on the bed* Oof...

After unpacking his stuff along with Teddylot's (because nobody was quite sure which bed he was occupying, so nobody could make him do it), Zap hopped into the bed he had reserved for himself earlier on in the night. He had already changed into his PJs, brushed his teeth, and all the stuff he usually does before heading to bed. This time, however, they felt like a new experience. Everything felt that way in this new environment.

He gazed up at the ceiling of his four-poster. His mind started wandering ... maybe he could make it reflect the night sky just like the ceiling of the Great Hall ... because he liked camping outdoors, and this would make it closer to it ... but would it be right ...?

As for Twister ... Well, he had already fallen asleep.

The dawning of the brand new day had finally arrived. The first day of school was here, and students were on their toes even from they awoke. Well, not everyone.

Kirby was soundly asleep until he heard a loud thud sound outside a nearby window, followed by the words "I say". The boy rubbed his eyes and groggily looked over at the window. He saw nothing.

Kirby: Nnuuuhh.. I don't wanna wake up...

Teddylot popped his head into Kirbynite's bed through the closed curtain's of the four-poster. He was a bit groggy and his manner showed it.

Teddylot: Kirb ... I think your talking bird wants into the room ... y-you *yawn* ... *smack smack* You might want to let him in, you know.

----------

Twister woke himself up by falling out of his bed, almost pulling the curtains with him. From underneath the mountain of covers, another groggy face showed itself. He looked around the room spying other tired faces and untidy beds, except for one face.

Twister: Where's Zap?

Zap was already in the Great Hall, doing a bit of school reading before his roommates came down to eat with him. By a long shot, he was the first one up in the entire castle, possibly excluding a few dedicated teachers such as Prof. McGonagall who was already scrutinizing the Great Hall even with the absence of trouble makers. She was also busy filing through quite a large amount of tablets scattered along the teacher's table.

As he was accustomed, the teen had been up since six o'clock. His shower had been drawn, his bed and area straightened. The only thing missing was the schedule for the rest of his day.

Prof. McGonagall: Hello Mr. James. I'm pleased to see you're already taking your school work quite seriously.

Zap let out a small grin.

Prof. McGonagall: And I do believe you will be needing this, so you may plan out the rest of your day. Hmm?

She pulled out a clipboard from underneath her arm and handed it to him.

Zap: Thank you, Professor.

The Deputy Headmistress turned on her heels, then walked silently back to her "desk" with already a good morning under her belt.

Zap filed through the clipboard's contents. It was, sure enough, his schedule for the rest of the year. Along with it came a map of the entire school with his classes already highlighted and the different paths marked. This would definitely prove useful.

Kirby: Nnn? He doshn't talk, I tell yous..

With another groan, Kirby pushed himself away his bed, and crawled to where his clothes should be.

After getting dressed, and assuming what should be normal school attire, he stepped out of the room and proceeded down the stairs. After taking the turn to go down the stairs that had forked out into the boys and girls' side, Kirby was knocked to the ground. A muttering of "idiot" and "Can't believe I slept out there" crept into his ears as he witnessed a dark blur running up the stairs that led to the girls' dormitories.

Kirby: Was it that girl who... Gack! Something died here-- Oh wait. It's that fur coat she had on her.

He got up to his feet after picking up the massive hide.

Kirby: Hey... um... What's that polite way of saying lady to a ten year old? ... What would a ten year old say, on second thought?

A dull look replaced Kirby's face.

Kirby: I'll just go and hand it to her.

And so, Kirby had been the first one in his year to find out how much faith the faculty of the school had in boys. He took a few steps before falling onto his face. The precious steps he was using had disappeared, causing his nearly unconcious body to slide down.

Kirby: *weakly* Did I add some bad luck, or is all my good deeds going to end up with pain?

Fem, having heard Kirb's loud descent as she was getting ready, had poked her head out of the girls' dorms and was looking down the slide that had once been stairs.

Fem: What the...?

Guts, like Zap, also arrived in the Great Hall before most everyone else. However, this was less because of his eagerness to learn, but his eagerness to eat.

Guts: Breakfast!

"I can finally fly!"

Ka'nae hovered around the dorm as soon as Nakase rushed in. The brunette's face was still flushed from the embarassment of realizing she slept out in the common room. As soon as she caught her breath, she looked around the room behind Fem.

"Oh, why didn't I fall alseep here?", groaned Nakase. The four poster beds did seem more appealing than the outside sofas. She noticed that there was an empty bed near the window. There were books stacked on its side, yet it showed no sign of someone even sleeping on the bed.

A faint smile grew on the girl's face. She knew she shouldn't have assumed, but she couldn't help but feel like that was her bed, and those were her books. Perhaps the books came from the same place as her wand...

She slowly approached bed, and noticed that there was a set of clothes. Nakase glanced around the room again.

"Erm.. There was no one sleeping here, right?

Teddylot shuffled down the stairs from the boys' dormitory. He took the stairs one step at a time, not wanting to trip over the front of his cleanly, new robes, while other Gryffindor boys flew by him, taking the stairs with a few big leaps. Eventually, he finally made it to the landing which seperated the boys' stairs from the girls'. Teddylot replied to Kirby, who was laying at the bottom of the ladies' stairs, with an "Alright, I won't." and then stared at his fallen friend for a few moments.

Leaping from the very top of the stairs, the two Weasly twins, whom Teddylot had met on the Hogwarts Express, landed right next to their furry friend. They took one look at the fallen Kirby and broke out laughing.

Fred: Looks like we have a Peeping Tom on our hands, huh George?

George: We sure do. *to Kirby* Hey, aren't you too young to be peeping around the girl's room?

Fred: Yeah ... Besides, I'd like to see a boy actually make it up those stairs, to say the least.

George: Of course, that's certainly not the only way to get in, mind you.

Teddylot: How would you know?

Fred: Oh, that would be our little secret.

George: And as it's a secret, we won't be likely to fill that hungry little face of yours.

Fred: Very well, off we go then?

Fred and George were obviously keen on moving away from the subject. They pushed Teddylot forward a bit, insisting that he join them, which resulted in the tiny bear falling down the length of the stairs. The twins winced, but were relieved when Teddylot popped up, big smile on his face, without a mark on him.

George: See you in the Great Hall, Tom.

Fred: You might want to try moving before some of the girls start coming down the stairs, you know?

George: That's right. They might start unfounded rumors about you. They do that a lot as crazy as they are. *winks*

So George and Fred hopped down the stairs after Teddylot, then marched out through the portrait hole.
