Like, 90% of his money would probably stay with the Yanks.

And Toxic, sure, the two new Houston pitchers may be above 30 (one BARELY), but they still had decent seasons last year... and although you might have to wonder how long Clemens could keep up.... I have little doubt that Pettite will have a good year.

The Cubs still have Kerry Wood, Zambrano, and Clement. So, even without Prior for a month, I think that they could hang around in the Wild Card race, if not the division race, for the whole time he is gone.

And the ChiSox in the WS???? Sorry man, but Boston and the Yanks are both too loaded for that to happen. You are right when you say that the ChiSox have POTENTIAL... but that's about all you can say for now.

Well, let me revise my statement.

Pettite and Clemens are both VERY capapable players. They're both on the decline though. Look at the run support they had. Not here

Oh, and Saber, I too think that Sosa probably could have taken steroids. But to discount Frank Thomas and call people morons for possibly thinking so isn't insane by any means. Remember 1997-99? He had some rough years there... and now, he is having fairly good years. Why the sudden jump? Well... can't discount steroids. Same thing with Luis Gonzalez, Sosa, and others.

Also, in Toxic's defense, he was saying WHAT IF HE IS ACCUSED.... being accused and having national attention on you can do some strange things to ya, no doubt.

Why? He had injuries. Tore his leg up pretty bad in 98. 99 he played hurt. 2000 he tore the cover off the ball. 01 he sucked. 02 he took a new mentality to the game and decided to just hit for power. Notice the 267 or something BA and the 42 homers. Plus Frank hasn't really had much fun since his glory days.

He also trains year round in Vegas. One of the most rigourous training schedules in the league. The guys lowest HRs in a year is something like 28. He's never exceeded 48 or so. Steroids? Nope. Nada.

Also, i didn't predict WS. I predicted ALCS.

Yeah, and that start is a little weird ... they're doing the first few season games in Japan, while the preseason isn't even over (ends in a few days) ... not to mention the 2 teams who did start will also come back for their last preseason games, before it starts for good

I can see the meeting for this one now

"Hmm, what can we do to increase profits? I got it! Play a game, in Japan, before the preson is over"

"Brilliant!"

In case anyone else is lucky enough to have digital cable, it's MLB Extra Innings's free preview week. Probably the only way I'll get to see the Red Sox here.

Although the best part of it? Seeing the local ads for other places. Anya... the Maroone ads, with the fans singing along to the Ghostbusters theme? They scare me. (cowers) (Although I'm sure Ray Parker Jr. is digging himself a grave so he can hop in and start spinning. )

Baseball on TV... *laughs* Not here.

I'm sure I can listen to the Expos free on radio. Just go to a Montreal station's site instead of MLB's.

You can't even watch the games? Wow...that's...bad

What I do is listen to New York Yankees baseball with John Steiner and Charlie something, who are both very good, and I enjoy listening to them. It's fun at 1030 to do that.

Oh, it gets worse. The Red Sox were blacked out on Extra Innings. To be fair, they did also black out Yankees/D-Rays (we get YES) and Mets/Braves (take your pick between WPIX or TBS, depending on which team you favor), but we can't GET NESN here. Therefore, they shouldn't black it out, but blackouts are beyond the cable company's control. As for giving us NESN, well, that's all them.

'Sides, we won 4-1 and I think the Yanks were getting beat DOWN, so s'okay in the end.

The Expos only have 20 or so games on TV. The Blue Jays have more but I don't exactly want to watch Toronto.

I hadn't noticed this before, but in every baseball game to be made this year, Barry Bonds is MIA...he refused to do it, or something. Then, to top it off, game developers were prohibited from making any character with similar stats on the Giants....lame...

edit: Speaking of which, I'ma gonna pick up MVP Baseball 2004 in about 3 hours. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

Bet you anything the statistics are extremely similar - why would you sub an average player in Barry's place?

Then again, he's a prick to the media so maybe he wants to be a prick to the union or to the video game companies for some reason.

He said that "throughout my career, I've been portrayed as a bad guy"

Right Barry, remember MLB 2000, when they had you in a Darth Vader costume?
How can you be portrayed as a 'bad guy' in a sports game?

People just love stabbing people who do good like Bonds. Notice once he got really close to Willie Mays' home run record, the steroid alligations started up in the off-season.

Not to mention accusing Jason Giambi. I hate the media.

Just like I hate MVP baseball

The pitching is the worst I've ever played with in my entire life. I have not struck a single person out in 5+ games. Scores usually go into the 20's.

Hitting is hit or miss, literally. Manny Rameriez went 5/6 with 4 HR's in my first game, and Nomar went 0/7 in another.

EDIT: WOO YEAH! It's hold and release then tap, not tap tap tap!!!! Pedro went the distance, allowed no runs, and gave up 8 hits! Yes! Buy this game!

The whole fictional player thing that's replacing Bonds, who is it anyway?

I still can't believe Bonds broke away from the MLBPA. Does this mean no more autographed baseball cards from him!?!?! Ouch.

For 2/3 major baseball games, it's one of the producers for the game.

In MVP, it's Jon Dowd, or something. I just edited his name anyway, as his stats were comprable to Bonds'.

The reason he's doing it is he pulled out of the player's union. He figures he can make enough money on his own, without having to share. And he's right, kids.

Oh, and also, the Tigers are 4-0. Welcome to Crazyville.
