(note: some of these shots show the old status bar, but the level design is the same)

As usual, please check the README for important info (especially known bugs/issues). Also, be sure to check out Yoshi's house before you start.

Enjoy!

Well, so far I've played up until the Factory/Base Levels, and you seem to have an excellent imagination.
Can't wait to play some more of it!

Just beat the first world. Looks awesome. In fact, it's so awesome, that it makes everything I've done seem dull and pointless and worthless =/

One thing: In Iggy's castle, that locked door is positioned kinda wierdly. It's just floating in the air.

That's the only thing that comes even close to a complaint, though, so far.

EDIT1: *cries* It's just so beautiful... This is the best hack - No, game - I have ever played... This makes Super Mario World, and all other hacks of it, look like crap. No one can compete with this...

EDIT2: Ugh. I can't keep playing this, I'll just get more depressed... Yeah, there's an idea, I'll give my hack a really depressed tone to it...

EDIT3: Hmm. I found some things in the village of the moon. When on a roof, you'll sometimes just fall through it. In the same place, the rain is fricking wierd - when you're going with it, it speeds up, but going against it and it stops. It's supposed to be the other way around... That's just creepy Thinking about this also made me realize one thing. While this game is very, very impressive, I failed to get caught up in it... I kept thinking about everything and how impressive it is, but... It's not fun I don't know whether it's my subconscious trying to make me feel better about seeing something so awesome or if it's just not well designed, but I just can't seem to enjoy this game.

EDIT4: So I beat the game, and it definitely did get better. I suppose that area was a bit of a dry spot, as I liked it before and after. So yeah, this is a great hack, BMF.

Just got through it all. First, I'll point out any bugs/issues I encountered. I don't remember the exact level names, so you'll have to forgive me.. you'll probably get them by description:

1. The level with the chocalate~y water that you can swim in.. underwater, the borders of the solid boundaries don't look right at the corners.. because the tile for the corner has a non-underwater part to it. Wow, that's unclear.

2. In the springs level, with the waterfalls... it was kind of a cool effect how you tried to make it appear that the water was hitting the platforms and then falling into the foreground, but you need to modify the tile at the top of the water-covered platforms in order to make it look more.. three-dimensional. As is, it's somewhat weird.

Anyways, besides that... obviously, great hack. The level design was quite good (though I didn't feel it was as good as other hacks have been.. I'm not sure why), the graphics were excellent, the new coding was very enjoyable as well... you'll get lots of praise (which you deserve), so I'll skip the gushing and add some constructive criticism:

1. Where are the secret exits? Maybe you haven't really gotten around to that, but.. I hope you don't leave it as linear as it is. I mean, I got the key on Yoshi's house and nothing happened! So that makes me think you just haven't gotten around to it yet.

2. You should modify the Chuck boss area at the end of the hack so the whole bottom of the area is made of spikes. It's far too easy as it is now.

3. I think Kratos is being way too hard on the hack when he says "It's not fun", but there's some essential quality of good design that seems to be lacking.. not that it's not good, but I think FuSoYa or Sendy have done it better.. a certain je ne sais quoi, I guess. It's something about the level design which doesn't feel entirely immersive. I'd have trouble explicating further, so I... won't.

And.. I guess that's it, actually. But, yea.. excellent work.

Yes! After all the screenshots and ASM changes, I've wanted to get ahold of this for a long time. About to download it now. Looks even better than the last time I saw screenshots.

...wow... just... wow...

And that is just from seeing the screens! I just showed my brother (who doesn't really like to see edits of Super Mario World mainly because he doesn't play the original much...) and he was even amazed at the screenshots! That shows that this is one very, very, very good hack.

When I first loaded up the hack in ZSNES, I was blown away by the presents logo and title screen. Noticing that you disabled 2 player support, I started a new game. That was one intro I will never forget.

I entered Yoshi's House expecting an awesome ASM hack. Indeed I did with the training room. I only got 1:25 in it though...

I played through the levels and was just thrilled with the background for the first few levels. The cave background was just... wow... it had a cool effect, an effect I have seen in Yoshi's Island. Just amazing. I beat the boss and then entered Alto Plains. I loved the second part in the level with the escalator thing. Simple trick, but I would have never thought of it...

After beating that, I couldn't believe what then happened. Wow... I was impressed.

I will keep playing this for a while... a long while...

Wow, I just played through the whole thing, and personally, this is the most impressive hack I've ever played. All of the graphical changes are absolutely amazing, and the asm hacks are some of the most interesting I've seen. Are you planning on having the player be able to buy things with the blue coins? That's what it appears they are for. I was planning on trying to do something like that in the hack I'm working on once I finish or give up on the 4 way gravity code.

Edit: Btw, would you ever consider documenting how you did some of it, or do we have to figure it out by ourselves? I was trying to figure out how you added the picture to the very first screen, and I couldnt think of a very straightforward way of doing so.

Judging from the screenshots above, I abosolutely love the ray of light on the ghost screen!
How did you manage to pull that one off? Did you create a layer 3 using ASM code (aka I'm not telling anyone!)?

Amazing BMF, you rule!!!

And I like to see the originality in terms of level design and the way you put the gfx, not to mention those neat ASM hacks (the YI timer, the hot water timer, etc etc).

Anyway, this is an impressive work, and will probably be the best hack ever when the completion version is released

Watch BMF, the Nintendo guys should hire you dude, you have an impressive talent.
