Could any good christian (or every other religion)
write a summarised guide for elitemap and it's programms?
It would help a lot all the hackers and it will be good for the pokehacking future!
It is extremely tiring to read all the pages of this thread!
If someone has the guts to start this project i would be glad to help!

What does Christianity "(or every other religion or NONE)" have to do with hacking a Pokemon game? LOL

I posted this tutorial at Xeon's Board, but no one goes there anyway so I'll post it here.

-----------------------------------------------------
In this tutorial, we're going to be changing the Duskull and Sharpedo in the intro of Sapphire into Abra and Venonat. It all involves hacking the pointers in the intro for Duskull and Sharpedo to point to the images and palettes of the new pokemon we're using.

We need the location of Venonat's and Abra's graphics first. Using RSBall, go to Abra, look at the Pointer Management section, and copy the GFX location. It should be 0xD5A55C

So let's begin. Open up Pokemon Sapphire your hex editor. The pointer for Duskull is at 0x1E8E2C. So go to that offset, and highlight the next four bytes. We need to put the offset for Abra we got before, BUT you need to byteswap it. So, before, it was 0xD5A55C. Now we need to switch each byte, so it will now be 5CA5D5.

Change the four bytes in the hex editor to 5CA5D508. Duskull is replaced by Abra. Now let's change Sharpedo. The pointer for it's graphics is at 0x1E8D3C. So go to that location in the hex editor. We need to byteswap the offset we got for Venonat, remember? So instead of 0xD50098, it will be 9800D5. Change the next four bytes in the editor to 9800D5. Sharpedo is now Venonat!

BUT.. Venonat and Abra still have the old palettes of Duskull and Sharpedo. They will look weird because they aren't using their own palettes. So just redo this whole tutorial, but instead of getting the offsets in RSBall for the GFX, get the PAL offsets for Venonat and Abra. This is where the pointers for the palettes of Duskull and Sharpedo are:

0x1EAF9C ~ Sharpedo PAL Pointer
0x1EB08C ~ Duskull PAL Pointer

You can change the pokemon into any other you want. I just used Venonat and Abra as examples.

Pointer hacking is really easy. You shouldn't even need a tutorial for it, Mr. "Man with Guts."

Oh wait.

_ fails for posting a load of crap and thereby utterly wasting
A) room and bandwidth of MyFileStash.com,
B) his time,
C) my time just now.

Really, the only dependencies that matter are the VB6 runtimes and, for older builds, SSubtmr6.

99% of that tree hangs onto MSVBVM60, which is the abovementioned runtime! The other 1% is to Kernel32, which everyone has.

For shame. I'm almost tempted to close this baby.

This doesn't exactly fit in as part of the EliteMap FAQ, and Kawa may not want to discress the information, but, what language is EliteMap written in and what Program was used to write it?

Hey Kawa, if you're not going to release any more EliteMap, why don't you release the source code for it, or for Bouches original, and some of the programs sources bundled with it. Then people can make improvements (if possible :p) and fix any bugs they find.
