Hi.

After looking around the Pipe Castle in DW: TLC and finding the custom block that puts a vine in reserve, I was just looking through Blocktool, yet, I can't seem to find this custom block anywhere in the program (I wish to use it to allow the player to reach the Big Boo boss in the first ghost house in my hack, instead of the custom block that puts a springboard in reserve that I already have in there).

Was this block only made to be used in DW: TLC or can anyone else use it in their hacks?

Thanks in advance.

I remember there are quite a few custom blocks in BLK Tool that put items in your reserve box. I believe those blocks are toward the end of the list, maybe around 340 - 350. I don't remember if there was a vine one, though. Double check the list where I told you, if it isn't there...you're out of luck, sorry.

There are custom blocks that may not appear in BT. You can create your own by learning ASM. FuSoYa may did it. I have played the hack, but I never have found this block.

I know it is in there, I put into my hack. It is around the bottom of the blocks...are you using an old version of blocktool?

No, I'm using version 2.0 of Blocktool.

If this custom block was in an older version of Blocktool, it couldn't have been deleted, right?

Regardless of the answer to this question, what is the number of this custom block (I'm very sure it is not the 97th one)?

I'm getting quite confused here...

No, it wasn't...I have 2.0 of blocktool too. I believe the block number is in the late 200's or 300's...

Here's how you do it. Make a copy of gq1.bin and open it in your HEX editor. Change the first 00 into 06 and save. Now, open block tool and click on Blocks > Edit block data. Click on the + button in the window that appears. Now, the text fields should become empty. Fill in these data:

Block Number: (The last block number + 1)
Block Title: (Whatever you want)
Block Usage: (Unneccesary)
Asm File Name: (The name of the file you edited)
Below Offset: 0
Above Offset: -1
Sides Offset: -1
Spr UD Offset: -1
Spr LR Offset: -1
Cape Offset: -1
Fireball Offset: -1
Reloc Offsets: -1
Author Name: (Unneccesary)
Author Email: (Unneccesary)
Description: (Unneccesary)
Whole Page: (Unchecked if possible)

In order to save, click on the third button from the right (forgot what that thing is called in english). Now, insert the block.

It's either apply or save or ok.

Hey, thanks guys (especially you, Smallhacker) for helping me out here.

I've got the custom block succesfully added to the list of custom blocks in my hack, and it works fine, other than the fact that the "growing" part of the vine seems to be on the right of the vine. What setting(s) will fix that, or is that normal?

Okay...

I have one more question to ask regarding this topic, do I need to insert a No Mario Block into my hack, and use it in the section where the vine would need to be placed?

I noticed I had to make a slight adjustment when I first tested this situation where the vine has to be placed, but the vine, when released in the same spot as a wooden block here, never appeared...

make it a vertical level with the blocks higher than where the vine comes out. And you only need to make them cement blocks, they don't really need to be no mario blocks.

Wait just one cotton picking minute...

Though I said that the previous question I posted in this topic would be the last one I would need to post here, there is something I have to point out.

The section of the Pipe Castle in DW: TLC where the player can get the vine they have in reserve (that is, if they get it from the different coloured "?" block in Pipe Secret) to "eat" through the No Mario Blocks is horizontal, not vertical (the section I have in the first ghost house in my hack where the vine in reserve (found in a hidden area in the ghost house) can be used is also horizontal), so I'm very sure this is possible in a horizontal level, right?

I wish FuSoYa would help a little here, after all, he is the co-creator of DW: TLC...

Edit: I just got the vine situation to work, so as of now, the Big Boo boss in the first ghost house in my hack is finally reachable.

It doesn't have to be vertical, I just didn't think it would fit into a horizontal level.
