I have tried about 3 different ways to post code on an Acmlm board and never found it...

I was under the impression that if you used a <pre> tag it treated everything between that and </pre> as straight text and did no HTML Parsing on it....

I don't think that works here though

let's see

<html>
<head>
<body>
<abcab etc>

Just put a <z> before the tag name. Like <<z>html>

I think he knows that, the problem is that it's very annoying to do with large bits of code. Heck, it's annoying to do at all. It would just be nice with a "Do not parse HTML" option at every post.

Sadly, pre has never done that. pre stands for preformatted or preserved, depending on day of month and whim of Caesar, and both just encompasses preserving spaces and turning it into a monospace font. I may work on getting the parsing done for b4; I'm just going to finish up the features started on for the rest of the time on b3 development.

Bugfix request that I noticed a while back but forgot to post about.

When you do an IP check on someone in ipsearch.php and you hit submit, it doesn't go to admin/ipsearch.php, it just goes to ipsearch.php. Thus causing a 404.

I'm sure you guys will AGONIZE over how to fix that problem, but I'm sure it can be done.

Ah crap.

I actually like the layout. I'm used to it. Now, some new board SCHEMES might be fun.

Or maybe even custom schemes... Another idea I think would be cool is on index.php making it so that it shows how many users are browsing certain forums. And if a banned member is banned make it where there is a custom banned message showing them why they were banned. And maybe even the thought of entering the date in edituser and it automatically unbanning the user.

The stuff I've done today, hotttttttttt off the changelog:

If you have moderator status in the current forum, you can now create threads that are closed and/or stickied by default by checking checkboxes in the new thread screen. You can also opt to close a thread right after you reply by a similar checkbox.

More finally features, in other words. And I did something more with RSS. Oh, this elusive RSS, in just four days they'll know.

Custom schemes can take up a lot of space though. Some people have a knack at making them, so perhaps we can put a call out for a few new ones in the near future.

Not exactly, for Erk's system at least people can usually use their own hosted images and such, if that's what you meant by space or whatever, maybe you meant SQL ...

I'm sure it could also be restricted for a user to only be allowed to create and edit only one custom scheme for "their own scheme". But now that I think about it, yeah custom schemes could get annoying "here" with this board having a rather larger user base than norm.

By the way Jesper saw the shots of the new PM system, looks very nice and I love the idea of having folders, kind of going with my "Savebox" idea but 10x better.

I agree with Randy on adding to the toolbar, like easily adding the Spoil tag and stuff.

Closing down a thread while replying is a nice feature, how many times have you seen a moderator who forgets to close down something whenever he replies?

I would make a custom colour scheme if I knew how they work. Since Acmlmboard 1.9 is not released...

The big problems with custom schemes are:
  • One to two fifths of the board wants it; about one seventh of the board will actually use it
  • It will take some time to develop. Sure, there's been other examples, yes, but none of them have been very good. Take picking colors, for example. I don't know about you, but I'd want a button that'd bring up a color picker, where I could pick a color OR just write in a hex value and fiddle with brightness or hue, which could make the process a lot easier.
If we do it, however, I'll also work hard on making it possible to define a url. Every n of your own page loads or every x weeks/days/hours, it'd go to that url, fetch a text file in a specific format and use those settings instead. Ta-dah. Stuff like randomizing colors or even cycling colors (just like daily cycle) are possible by popping a PHP script to output the text file instead.

The way custom schemes would work amongst several users is that you'd tick a box saying "share this scheme". And you'd be able to create as many schemes as you'd like (although we might limit it to 10 or something).

What the post toolbar needs more than anything is being redesigned completely. No offense to sarev0k, the guy that wrote the previous script, but it's very confusing and it takes a lot of code to do simple stuff.

<pre> is for preserving spacing, not disabling HTML. <xmp> disables HTML (put HTML between the tags and it comes out as text), but whenever I use it it stretches the page. If we could fix that, it'd be great.

Here's another suggestion: close to the "quote" link, put a link to get the current post. Like, if you click it in this post, you would get http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=6986&page=3#138243.
It would be a lot easier to link someone to a post.

Damn good idea.

For a toolbar, maybe it could be user-defined? For each user you have a certain number of toolbar fields, and each one contains an image URL and a code. The output would be an image using the URL you specified, and when you click it it adds the code you specified into the post. (Of course there would be default entries for smilies, the stuff in the toolbar, etc.) That way you could upload your own smilies to whatever host doesn't suck (maybe ban tripod ) and add them to a toolbar. I've hacked up a simple setup like this using Proxomitron. Screenshot:

That goes below the post textbox, and I just click one of the smilies and it gets added to the post. *clicks one*
