You know there was never a sticki for Final Fantasy 11, but WoW gets one...

Anyways a friend of mine has it and he also has 11, and he says you can' really compare the games. Final Fantasy 11 is more challenging, but having to constantly find parties does kind of suck. (Unless of course you are patient enough to learn that you can solo stuff all the way to 30, but no one cares about that.)*

So to try and compare the games is hard, but I have heard that some people will prefer one just because of the play style and then others will prefer the other because of easier/harder difficulty and all that stuff.

*If you did not realise that SE wasn't forcing partying down your throat, every job can get to level 30 soloing, I talked to some people that did this and they told me how to do it. (You know mages solo off worms and the rest fight what they are strong against.) Anyways, I believe FF11 will be at a harder difficulty and all that stuff, but WoW will apeal to more people, because it won't be quite as long as final fantasy 11 and a casual gamer could actually play the game.

Final Fantasy 11 is a piece of trash, I threw it away the week it came out. Never EVER compare that game to WOW.

I've had friends who bought FF11, played it for a while the just stopped. Mainly because of the constant grinding thoughout the game. Overall I've heard nothing but bad things about FF11 so I for one couldn't care less about it. Some people like it and thats fine, they can go and play it while the rest of us go and play WoW :-)

I've seen nothing but good reviews for FF11 though.

I guess it's pace though - if you like that style of game you'll be engrossed in it. It's certainly doing well the last time I checked.

Ah yes that brought up something interesting my friend said, "If you want a game that will engulf you completely get 11, but if just want a game that you could play casually and keep a good pace get WoW."

Oh and as for what Angel, have you even played 11, and how far did you get?

Wonder what category EQ2 would fall under. I'd guess the FF11 camp.

But yeah... WoW will be the MMORPG that you can just pick up for an hour or two a day (if you're willing to) and have fun with. You'll level up eventually, it's not that hard.

If I recall in WoW you can set your exp gain to two states, Rested and Normal - in Rested you gain double exp, but can only do so for a certain amount of time (hence casual play) before you take big hits to your gain, as opposed to if you left it on Normal.

Currently on 11, though I did try for the closed beta, so I'll certainly be looking into this.

I played it until I hit my first job change. The week it came out.

You played till level 30? I see that highly unlikely.... Especially in one week. Unless you were just a whm that hogged up a bunch of invites. I might have to try WoW though, no point letting a potentially good game go to waste.

I have a couple of friends who were in the closed betas and stress tests, got to see them playing it, and even took the controls a few times myself.

From what I've seen, it's a lot like Everquest, but with about 20X as much to do.

I'm particularly looking forward to trying my hand at a dwarf hunter. Riflemen were always one of my favorite units.

I also think it'd be awesome if they had a system where you could establish mortar teams out of a couple of dwarves in the same party.

Well, you have 8 distinct races, a bunch of distinct classes, different professions, a huge game words, 1,000+ quests... Yeah, I'd say you'd get your money's worth for a few months at least; and then longer when the inevitable expansion pack comes out.

As of October 29th The Closed Beta will end. They will then begin ramping up for the next stress test, which I believe is the open Beta.

It's getting closer guys

Oh god, those poor guys are gonna go into withdrawal. XD

Of course, they'll still be in the open beta, but it sounds like a long weekend for them. I say the beta either launches early next week, or Blizzard starts accepting signups this weekend and allows the client to be downloaded before then.

My ego needs placating! I made a thread about this last year. Jiz said it was going to suck, now he's all into it.

Oh, and the video didn't work for me Jiz. Improper codec and it failed to instal properly. I could hear it quite well though.

Leg leg leg, poor leg.

And about the video, get k-lite codec pack, you even get media player classic in the package, best player in the wurld, and I can watch everything to boot No need to get nimo codec pack that screws up with games like Morrowind >)

Edit: and leg, I only said that cuz you'd dissapear with it and I'd miss you

Why would you admit it if Legion gave you a way out of your predicament?

Oh well. Roll on the open beta signups - hopefully tomorrow.

The stress test, which they are accepting signups for starting Nov 1, Is NOT the open Beta. The Stress test is only open to subscribers of File Planet, and closed beta participants, according to the World of Warcraft site (which is getting REALLY hammered). They have more info posted but this is the jist of it. The first stress test participants are not automatically accepted, and will need to qualify based on the restrictions above. After the stress test the open beta will start.

Looks like we wait a bit longer.. Almost there guys ;-)
