Badass. That's why I've got Trillian.

Try Norton, you fruit. If you don't already have it, then go and get it.

Any decent AV does.

From AIM.com:

We have received reports that a number of AIM users have received Instant Messages from someone on their Buddy List asking them to check out the following links: http://www.wgutv.com/osama_capture.php?dII5 OR http:www.buddylinks.net OR http://www.gamesandquizzes.com/nightraptor/.

IF YOU RECEIVE THIS MESSAGE, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK, EVEN IF IT COMES FROM SOMEONE ON YOUR BUDDY LIST.

This link takes users to a web site that asks them to download a game. If the user agrees to download the game, the web site also installs a secret "adware" program on the user's machine that can deliver unwanted advertisments and promotions. The adware program will also send the same link out to every person on the user's Buddy List -- spamming their friends and associates with a link to the same adware.

HERE'S THE FIX:If you have already clicked on the link and downloaded that software, you can remove the adware program from your machine by clicking on Start --> Control Panels --> Add/Remove Programs and then removing the applications related to:

It should be common sense to not accept file transfers, anyway.

I accept them quite often...

To tel lyou the truth... Didn't I get Acmlmboard 0.7 and 1.6 from you about a week ago?

But then again... I SHOULD be able to trust most of the people on Acmlm, no?

And other than that... only people I accept files from are people I know quite well...

I meant transfers from random people w/o prior knowlege and w/o explaination of what the file is.

It wasn't a file, even.

Just a link to a website with an Install-On-Demand popup (to install the "Media player" or whatnot, which I made sure to read the license agreement for beforehand, THANKFULLY...)

I have one, where it just shoots up an away message that says "updated profile here" and then a link to the file.

I use trillian anyway, but whenever I use AIM for file transfer it does that
