Using YY-CHR, I was able to create an ExGFX file, of a backround from an NES game. I called it ExGFX96.bin It's 4kb. Now, I opened my rom, and inserted the ExGFX. I opened Super Bypass, and selected BG96. Now, I went to the level I wanted to have the backround in. Now, since there is no Map16 file for this, I went into my 8x8 tile editor. I went down one page, and at the top half, there was my backround, it was there perfectly!! Now, I opened my 16x16 tile editor, and tried pasting the pieces from the 8x8 to the 16x16, and it would not let me do so. I tried opening the backround editor itself, setting it to accept pieces from page 0x13. I then placed the 16x16 on page 0x13, then I tried again to copy and paste from 8x8 to 16x16, nothing. A while ago, I was able to copy and paste from 8x8 to 16x16, but with an SNES backround of Link To The Past. Am I missing a step? Thank You

In order to edit the MAP16, choose an empty block, click on "Edit 16x16 attributes". In the 4 boxes, input the 4 8x8 tiles the block uses. Now, click OK and use the right mouse button to place it on an empty spot. Remember to press F9 to save.

Ah man that's great!! It works!! I have a VERY small portion of the backround I want. Now, how would I be able to get the rest of the backround on there? Here's my delima. My backround on the 8x8 tile editor so far has this

100-10F
170-17F

When you look at that on either the 16x16 or the Backround editor itself, it's pretty small. Plus, there's way more to the backround that's not appearing. I know how to make YY-CHR see whatever parts of the backround I wish to save as ExGFX. My only question is, how do I get the rest on there? I know it's going to have be a couple of ExGFX files. I hope you guys understand what I'm talking about and can help me. I'll try to give you another example of what I have so far of my backround.

Okay, when you view your file in YY-chr does the BG take up the ENTIRE space or just half like you would see in the 8x8 editor of LM? It can only take up half for it to work. If you could post a .png shot of the BG editor, 8x8, 16x16, and your ExGFX file that would be more useful so we can see exactly what you may be doing wrong.

I don't know if is this you want to know. 16x16 can only insert blocks with 4 8x8 tiles. If you background have 5 tiles, you can put something like this: 110-***
180-***

In place of *'s you must insert a blank tile. Just erase an tile with mouse's right button in 8x8.

i don't know how to take screenshots on my pc, and i'm confused on how to get one of my screenshots on here. I'll try to do it with just plain lines.

---------------------------------------

SCREENSHOT

---------------------------------------

This of course is not the real size of the screenshot, everybody knows what a regular screenshot of a game looks like. Well, that's the screenshot. Now, this is the screenshot when I load it up in YY-CHR

---------------------------------------
| YY-CHR | |
|________ | |

SCREENSHOT

---------------------------------------

Where it says, YY-CHR in the screenshot, that is what appears when I load it in YY-CHR. If I want to see the rest of the screenshot, I'll have to cut and resize and make a few bmp files to see the rest of the screenshot. Now, since that part is possible, I'm tyring to figure out, how to get those other pieces, onto either the 8x8, or 16x16, for that same level, so I can complete my backround? I'm a little confused on Mario Maniac's post. And Keikonium, the screenshot that says, YY-CHR, when I load up YY-CHR the viewscreen is completely full of that part of the screenshot only, YY-CHR will not let me view the entire screenshot, only what you see in my diagram. And I've got another problem, but I'll save that for later. So, what must I do guys? And thanks for the speedy replies!!! :-)

Those "line shots" aren't very useful, we would need to see actual shots. To do this, hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard and then open up photoshop, Irfanview, Paint, PSP etc. and press Ctrl+V. This will paste what your screen looked like when you hit print screen. Then just save and uplaod them to Photobucket.com. And you for BG's and tile sets, NEVER just paste a screenshot and save it as an ExGFX file. If you still need help, I think it was you I emailed about help thru AIM. I can't do that tonight, but next weekend may be good if you still need help.

If you can get shots before 8:00 PM I can help you out alot quicker Good luck.

just sign up at www.photobucket.com and put your pictures in there!
when you load it up you get 3 lines of text in textbars underneath the picture you just loaded. copy the "tag" one and paste it in your post!

I find Imageshack to work better, no sign-up required.

Aha. I understand the problem. You can't just do like that. You have to use those MAP16 tiles as "Jigzaws" [sp?] and piece together a background of it.
