I've had a cell phone since 1998, and I've upgraded my cell phone twice since then. Since I don't have or need a house phone, it comes in handy. Besides, you never know when you're car might break down and you need to call for help or some sort of example like that

I have a Sprint samsung A500, as seen here.

I don't have a cell phone, I don't plan on it, and I hate them with a passion.

Unless you're using it to inform (preferably somewhere that's not overly busy) family/friends where you're going/what you're doing/etc or using it in an emergency, don't use it.

I hate all those idiots who sit there and blab on the phone while driving

You know, that's one of the stupidest thing you can do with a cellphone. Even with handsfree, you'll get distracted from what you're meant to do: driving. I think some kid actually got ran over and killed, because of someone talking on the phone, while driving.

Anyway, yeah, I do have a cellphone..

The only reason to get a cellphone is that you can put a Metallica or an Iron Maiden ringtone on it.

I like Metallica, why would I want to hear a bastardized shitty version of it? It would just piss me off. Polyphonic tones? Over rated.

Having a cell phone is good, for the same reason having a car is good - it's useful. Yet there will always be people who hate them and go spreading "it's a plauge upon mankind" stuff. If you don't want a cell phone, don't get one. I can understand if you're angry at those 13-year-old brats calling their 'homies' on the bus - I am too - with their lobotomized Christina Aguilera/The Darkness rings - I am too - but don't let that anger out over the rest of us, who actually may use them for something useful and constructive.

There's nothing worse than when you sleep at your friends place and he is laying there in bed sending tons of SMS's. That noise when you press the buttons. ARGH CAN'T TAKE IT!!!!

There are phones for 'your type' too, by the same reason that there are phones for your friend's type: there's a market. If you want a cell phone with the absolute minimum of functions, they are out there. I don't see why you're upset at more advanced cell phones - noone's forcing you to use them, and the button noise applies to EVERY cell phone, even the small ones, unless you mean the blip noise, which you can turn off.

Well GUESS WHAT

I have a MOTOROLA V400, and GUESS WHAT IT HAS

Color Display
3 types of ringtones: Crappy itune (monophonic), midi (polyphonic), and mp3
A camera
Text Messaging
Multimedia Messaging
Wireless Internet
GPRS
Games (One of them is Prince of Persia )

And if I want a picture of a dragon to grace my phone's screen, by golly, that's what'll happen!

But then I'm a tech dude, and tech dudes need big tech phones. I don't care if you all hate my phone, I like it, so booya.

But yeah, if someone other than a tech dude has this huge tech phone that all they'll do is goof around on it, yeah, that's bad.

And just like Jesper said, no one's forcing you to get a computer phone. I elected to get one, because it had stuff I liked. If you want a phone that can do nothing but make calls and send/recieve text messages, then get one for goodness sake. Sheesh, no need to attack the super phones. Attack the people who can't use the super phones without being obsessively whacko instead.

And there's no need to bash cell phones in general, because they're useful. It's great to be able to call people when there isn't a yucky ooky you-don't-know-where-it's-been payphone around nearby. And besides, I don't like carrying a lot of quarters to use in a payphone when I can just use my cell phone, but yeah, who the hell leaves their cell phone on during class?

Better yet, who's the dumbass who's CALLING during class??

I don't want a cell phone...it's bad enough to have a regular phone (although I know it's important, if nothing else, to make outgoing calls in an emergency or something). I'm not the kind of guy who wants to be reachable 24/7.

Jesus god.

Just fucking turn it off!

Why does everyone always use this argument? It's not hard turning it off. If you're really expecting a call, keep it on (your teacher will let you if that's the case), and if it's inappropriate or you don't want it on, turn it off. The rest of the time it's all up to you. Why don't people get this?

There's this nifty silent option too.
I want lots of features for my cellphone, ofcourse, it has to be affordable.

It seems that it's more common with cellphones here in sweden, where like every person has it.

I need a new cell, color display with camera = <3

I have an Ericsson T100 (I've been thinking about what it was since my last post <<; ), which fitted the only requirement (next to the very basic stuff cellphones have to do) I have; it was cheap. YAY!

I have a cellphone. It's one of the minimalist Nokia ones (3310? I dunno). Simple, easy to use, and good quality of phones. And it's digital, while my parent's phones were analog only.

My friend has a tiny phone..and it's so cute! I have one too, I may add..it's cute too . It's small..but not too small. It's one of those flippy LG phones from Metro PCS..I think it's only avaliable in Cali. N. Cali but halfway down to LA. It has a flat rate thingy for long distance and no over charges and you can talk all you want here. So its good..it's my 3rd cell phone..my other one my sister now has that was an AT&T Pre-paid. I had a Cingular Nokia one..it was so cute. I want it back. I want my own phone..my mom takes it with her..damnit.

I need a cell phone right about now. The need is actually growing for me... people are calling me at home when I am not there... and Im missing very important things.

Plus if I ever miss the bus again I can just call someone and get them to pick me up

Although some people are going to the extremes with there cellphones.(Dont get me started on the thing that happened on the bus one day )

I don't have a cell actually. One, I don't really need one; two, if I *REALLY* needed to have one handy when going out I'd borrow my mom's. It's one of those "Pay as You Go" types, so she just puts minutes on it when she needs it. It's not for everyday yakking and it's very minimalist.

I don't own a cell phone nor know how to work one. But I'd like one though for making log distance calls cuz then I can call my boyfriend. I'd want a cheap plan that works with free long distance calls too.

Why is everyone whining about the noise it makes and not wanting to be reachable 24 hours? EVERY cell phone has sound options, or a silent/mute mode, plus you can very simply turn it off if you don't want to be called.

And suprisingly funny, I see it very frequently that people are against things such as camera phones, but as soon as they get their hands on one or get to play with someone else's camera phone, they suddenly like it.

I have a Panasonic 900i which contains a camera, video phone, and (of all things) Final Fantasy I and Bomberman, though I rarely play them.

In the US/Canada/UK/etc., can you choose your number? In Japan, some places will let you choose the last four digits, and with others, you're limited to whatever models they have in the shop (you can see the number on the box).

The problem with cell phone culture is not that we can't turn our phones off if we don't want to be reached -- that's a simple matter -- but rather that people expect you to have your phone on all the time, and get angry if you don't. If you don't have a phone, you've got an excuse, and if you only have a land line, you can say you weren't home. But people expect cell phones to be on 24 hours a day.

Well did you hear St. Anger?

Ohhhhhhhhhhh!

Ok, ok. That was an easy one so I don't get any e-props for it.

Anyway, I don't like how people have cell phones just as a status symbol. And what's with people thinking they're so important that they have to be reached at all hours of the day? Person X can wait until you get home to call them.
