You missed a few items that you can do that with: -Bow and arrows - There's that green statue with one eye puzzle. -Bombs - Bombable door or floor. -Boots - That jumping over a pit trick, or one of those bombable doors that work with boots too (though that would require you get boots first, which would be tougher than it's worth). -Book of Mudora - Blocking thing from desert. -Either of the gloves - Rocks. -Boomerang - Unreachable key -Magic boomberang - Even more unreachable key. -Hammer - Posts/mole thingies. -Sword - Vines covering walls. You could use this in Link's house or something, if you don't plan on being one of the evil hack makers who make the sword show up later in the game. -Master sword - That electricity barrier thingy. -Bug catching net - Make a door openable only by killing some enemies that you'd need a bee to reach. Of course, you'd have to do this before you get the real weapons of mass destruction, the medalions. -Flippers - water -Lamp - lighting torches. Obviously must be before you get the fire rod. -Mirror sheild - Laser beams and such. I think that between those and the ones you mentioned, you'd easily have enough items to make that backtracking thing happen. Oh, and your hack looks spiffy. Originally posted by Squash Monster The medallions are quite overpowered, that's true. Quake and Ether are the only ways to kill a few enemies I'm thinking of. Namely, the yellow magic creatures in the dungeons and dedorokkus in the mountains. There may be more that I can't think of at the moment. |

Thats not true, you can use the powder to turn some unkillable enemies into other enemies that are easily killed. BTW, thx, i am not making the dungeons, but im sure Dudeman will use those ideas. THX. |

I shall. That kill the enemies with a bee is a damn good idea, although the only problem is I already completed all the light world dungeons so by the time you reach the dark world you would have arrows, sword beam, and other long range weapons. and yes some dungeons have easter eggs that requier back tracking. I have even made some MINI dungeons that provide valuable items. |

Remember, though, that those items can be blocked by some terrain, and that they cannot shoot diagonally. Still, back tracking easter eggs are good, whether this systematic every level one or not. |

Originally posted by Dude Man MINI dungeons? You mean like you have to shrink yourself to get into it? That would be so What I think would be cool is a way to Link different dungeons to one another. I haven't looked at the ASM for that, so I don't know if it's feasible yet. It would be similar to how in Metroid Fusion there are many different ways to get to each sector from the others, without going back to the main deck. |

I accidentally did that with my demo hack. It works fine when you enter another dungeon from stairs or a hole/warp, but it goes all messed when you just walk. Its wierd. I had to cut a whole section from a dungeon of mine cause of that.

Awesome, that would be so cool. If the dungeons could be joined, it would allow for some really cool hacks like a hack where there is just 1 huge dungeon. I would love to play a hack like that. I guess that maybe it could be done now with stairs and stuff, but it would be much easier to design if you didnt have to worry about that stuff.

Different dungeons use differnet blocksets (no not the top one, the bottom one, determines which gfx set to load into the rom when you enter through this entrance), if you had all your dungeons in the same blockset, you can join them up without much problems (just make sure the palettes are right) 0x15581 is the offset of the data in the rom (02: D381), i guess you'll want to locate the routine which loads this number? Well it's about here in the rom i think. 02/DA74: BD 81 D3 LDA $D381,X (this loads 02: D381,x which is probably what you'd expect, unless there's another place....) good luck. EDIT: fixed up some unwanted smily faces. (edited by Euclid on 09-29-04 06:51 AM) |

Wow Omega, you and Dudeman are truly kicking major butt with this hack. Way to go guys! Guys I'm gonna ask a favor, if not doing it for me, please do it for Omega and all of his hard work. Please go to www.gamefaqs.com and vote link over cloud. Why you may ask? Because Cloud beat Link last year and may do it again this year, creating another dull end to the contest. I ask nicely, and I support Omega 100% of the way with his hack, go him! Thank you all. (edited by Ssj4Link on 10-03-04 06:41 AM) (edited by Ssj4Link on 10-03-04 06:46 AM) |

sry, no demo. The full game will be here soon enough. I decided against a demo when I first started, cause in the past, it has derailed many projects. I want this to be one awesome release. Keep checking back for it.

Oh, i have put way too much effort into it, that I would never be able to back out now. Im way past the halfway mark. I am 100% sure that it will get done, baring some unfortuante disaster. Haha, well, i think ill post some more screens tonight. Some from the dark world this time. |

So are you just leaving the core of the game and doing a big time level design overhaul? Or really changing the game up? (Moving things completely around, etc.) Just curious.

Oh, the game is 100% new. Basically, the whole game was wiped clean before beginning creation, so nothing is recognisable. Dungeons, Overworlds, story, some graphics, practically everything has been completely changed. Even some ASM has been put to use to create some awesome puzzles. However, the main events are unchangable. It would be way too much work to change the events, so they have just been worked into the story in a very unique way. Beyond that, there isnt much that can be done besides a major asm overhaul of the main events, which would take FOREVER. |

Yeah it definitely would. The "events" are not in one concise location as in some games. They are bits here and there of various variables. Hacking each one and its behavior would in and of itself be a bitch, let alone all of them.

Yah, but the game is still very different even with those events. Its nothing to worry about. Besides, the time that would need to be spent to change just one event could be put to much better use. |
