hey ive been interested in learning some techniques for 6502 asm hacking and pointer editing and such with expansion so i was wondering if anyone who has done it has wrote a guide or tutorial that maybe follows through an example asm hack *more so than just changing one lda  or any snes asm hacking guides or help would be nice too  |

| All I can say about ASM hacking is that you had better have a damn good idea of what you're doing. You will inevitably break something and have to go back and figure out what screwed up. As far as hacking guides go, I know of none beyond Rockmans'. The best thing you can do for yourself is to learn ASM, in particular the opcodes for each instruction, and open up the rom in a hex editor. See what the game does, figure out how it works. Go from there. Also read a lot about the particulars of your system. A knowledge of Snes rom hacking would be incomplete without knowledge of the NMI interrupt, for example. http://www.google.com is your friend. (edited by MathOnNapkins on 09-18-04 01:51 AM) |
