Ahoy! Just got back from the store not too long ago... not really a haul, but...

CD: Velvet Revolver-Contraband

Nice to hear some good ol' fashioned rock n' roll, and not crappy mainstream nu-metal that's been clogging the air waves as of late. More of a rock album than metal, but it adds Scott Weiland's occasionally angst-filled vocals with a little bit of Guns N' Roses mixed in. Slither is problably the best song on here, though Sucker Train Blues isn't too far behind it.

DVD: Blade (1998)

A little old, but still kickass. Unfortunately, I saw the sequel before seeing this one, which isn't supposed to come first, but now that I have seen both and have a vivid understanding behind the plot, characters, and storylines, I am pumped and ready for Blade 3: Trinity next!

In the name of piling on:

* Eleventh Dream Day: "El Moodio"
* Gin Blossoms: "Dusted" (live album from 1989, just released a coupla years ago)
* The Go: "Whatcha Doin'?"
* Ocean Colour Scene: "Mechanical Wonder"
* Ride: "Nowhere"
* Sugar: "If I Can't Change Your Mind" (UK single #1)

Oh, and a guitar, but that's neither here nor there. ;P

New on DVD:

Spider-Man 2: Widescreen SE

What can I say? Great flick, and I use that term loosely. The villian I thought was much better than the one from the original, which was nothing more than a cheesy Power Ranger in a glider in my book. Excellent sequel, and excels at parts in which most sequels fail in.

The newspaper where I work sells off promo CD's every now and then for charity. What I got:

Ani DiFranco: Educated Guess
Axis of Justice, Volume 1
The Bad Plus: These Are the Vistas, Give
Mos Def: The New Danger
Talib Kweli: Quality

$5 apiece. Also snagged a couple of books (Bill "Spaceman" Lee: "The Little Red (Sox) Book"; Noah Levine: "Dharma Punx") for the same price. ^___^

ok so most of you dont know who harry connick jr. is. he sings. he was also on will and grace for a bit as grace's short lived husband...
anyway, i just picked up his album "songs i've heard". whether or not you're a fan its great because it is such an unexpected pairing... songs from children's movies such as willy wonka, mary poppins, the sound of music, etc. in JAZZ style. its AWESOME. if you like jazz, listen to it, and if you like the songs from above mentioned movies (as well as annie and others) liste to it because the renditions are soooo not how you're used to hearing them. i mean, the oompa loompa song with a total jazz makeover, is AMAZING.

I've been putting it off for a while, but I finally bought the final two Lord of the Rings movies.

They are very very tiring to watch.

I'm also weirded out that places in there seem to look a lot like the illustrations in my book (drawn by Alan Lee). Minas Tirith looks JUST like in the book, and so does most of Mordor, etc.

I really need to check out the extras on the disk to see if Alan Lee is credited....

The Royal Tenenbaums is such a cool movie. I watched it just yesterday. I really wanna buy it now.

Got these from eBay:

Pet Shop Boys - Please/Further Listening 1984-1986
Pet Shop Boys - Actually/Further Listening 1987-1988

Now I just need to get Bilingual/Further Listening 1995-1997 and Nightlife and I'll have all of PSB's main albums.

Oh, did I forget to mention I happen to be... how you say, > you?

* Incubus: Morning View (limited edition)
* Snapcase: Progression Through Unlearning
* Pixies: Bossanova
* Pearl Jam: No Code
* Juliana Theory: Understand This Is A Dream
* Breeders: Last Splash

The last two were a BUCK each. I don't get it either. (Although the Juliana Theory one, their debut full-length, is surprisingly good. Love was just a steaming pile.)

Today I went to the mall and picked up:

dvds:
Gattaca
- any uma fan should know it. Its a great movie, Uma looks great, and its fairly interesting. $10.

cds:
Sleater-Kinney - All Hands on the Bad One
Sleater-Kinney - One Beat
Sleater-Kinney - Hot Rock
- Ive been wanting to get them, but everywhere Ive been looking, they arent in stock. I never wouldve guessed the mall to have them the day after Christmas..
They are all good. And a good price too, about $11 each. Most cds were marked up to $22 today, so Im considering myself lucky.

CD.
Barry Adamson - The King of Nothing Hill
Felix da Housecat - Kittenz and Thee Glitz [US Bonus Tracks]
Felix da Housecat - Devin Dazzle & the Neon Fever
Kylie Minogue - Light Years [Special Edition]
Self - Gizmodgery [Japanese import]

Video game.
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (plus two Street Fighter PS2 controllers, one Ken and one Ryu. :o Want a Chun-Li now, and--when she comes out--Cammy.)

I really wanna get Katamari Damacy for PS2... Watched a friend play it, and it looks mad frickin' fun. And, it's only $20 retail price. Gonna rent Capcom Fighting Evolution, see if that's any good... Damn, do I ever suck at Hyper Street Fighter II, though. I have trouble winning the first fight on the easiest difficulty level!

Holding back on DVD purchase from now on (except for TV series and concert/music video DVDs). Gonna save my money for Blu-ray movies instead.

Latest additions (this is including both x-mas gifts and bought items):

CD

-Nirvana-With the Lights Out (CD/DVD boxed set)
-Guns N' Roses-Greatest Hits

DVD

-Nirvana-With the Lights Out (hey, it fits under both categories )
-Chronicles of Riddick, the (the standard, rated version, NOT THE DIRECTORS CUT!)
-Chappelle's Show: Season 1 Uncensored
-Resident Evil: Apocalypse
-Bourne Supremacy, the
-Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

With all these new additions, it seems I've got a lot of catchin' up to do. I've only watched Episode 1 of 12 on the Chappelle's Show Season 1 DVD, yet I find that to be the funniest so far (I've seen certain parts of some of the other episodes), especially the very end sketch, which is very racial yet very, very funny at the same time (catch this: he even calls a group of "pimpin' whities" the "N" word!) Boy, that one never ceases to amuse me... funny stuff.
