this has always been a favorite game of mine, and I've been wanting to hack this sucker for the longest time, but never to any avail (The data was never an easy thing to find for me back then, and to be fair, not alot of people had interest so I didn't get a great deal of support either ) I decided I'd compile together what ittle I did have, and just post it up because I don't wanna be too greedy. And who knows, maybe somthing will come of this...I'd really like that

anyways, here is what I've found so far, I'm quite proud of it for what it is...

like I said, I doubt anyone can do much with it, but it's a start, and if anyone else is interested like me at taking a swing at this game, then they have one less thing to fumble around for.

edit: for those who don't know, this is a GB game. it was originaly SaGa 2 in Japan, and they stuck the name Final Fantasy on it so it'd sell in the US. Great game series never the less, I love it to peices and this was my favorite one of the bunch

I love this game as well. I havent had as much time with it as I would have liked (perhaps in the future) here is what I have so far as well. It's not as nice and neat or as interesting, but like you said, a few less things to fumble around for.

33E80 - Item Usage Amounts
37E7F - Item Set combinations
3EEC0 - Monster Names (8 bytes each)
3EA40 - Attack Names (8 bytes each)
3E640 - Weapon, Armor and Item Names (8 bytes each)
3EA40 - Monster Attack Names (8 bytes each)

It sure does.Everything in the rom I've come across does. I'm glad someone besides myself has interest in this game. It's simple but fun.

that's awesome that's very good to know, too. That could make finding other things alot easier. I'm thinking that I might start looking for your character's default attacks tonight (searching for the values of the attacks you start with..hopefully i'll find somthing )

:O...this program is the epitome of ass-kicking. VB, huh? Cool, cool. I was planning a VB editor for the game myself, once map data had been found..awesome though, this is a great great start

Thanks, I havent touched it since I upgraded my PC, I'm in the middle of installing VB again, and might work on it some soon. It's much better than my older one I had floating around at TEK...*shudder*

Stats and such are easy enough to do, and the only thing left to do with the text is find out which byte is '-' and I can make a complete table file for it (and put it in the editor). If map data is ever found, this game would be the first I'd try to make a map editor for. Could be fun (or just plain funny...heh ). It will definatley get more attention eventually. My WIP folder of things to do is growing faster than my lawn.

at first I had a hunch that the second unknown value (set from 121-126) on the mosnter was its meat category (126 being undebiles such as odin crow)...but regering to game FAQ's guide on monster evolution, that sorta threw off my whole theory...though it has to be used for somthing, I found it odd there was no value determining Image..

That unknown value gave me fits (still does). All of them did actually...hours I spent...

Anywho...it's not the meat catagory unfortunately, though that shouldn't be too hard to find. None of the data was hard to find really, when I had the values and knew their order. Usually the simplest of hex searches gave me what I wanted. Except pointers..not sure about Gameboy pointers or the ones used in this game. Too much SNES hacking has corrupted my mind.
