That's right, we're on the eve of full-on college football season, and it's awesome. Who else here is into college ball? What schools you root for? As for me, you know I'm rooting for my Bucks. This week, I'm rooting all-Ohio, with Bowling Green taking on Oklahoma and Miami looking to whoop on the team up north.

I don't really care for the college ball at all. Waaaay too many things to make me think twice about watching. The Mike Williams situation, constant BCS BS, no playoff system, and legitament teams that deserve a shot at the national title never get that chance. College ball is all about money, I'm in it for the sport.

But if I had to pick I'd take the Gophers. What?

No team from THE Ohio State University is gonna take them down this year.

So....uhhh, yeah.

I'm not a big college person myself. There are way too many teams, players, and just too much stuff to remember.

But, I watch it from time to time, and Florida is my favorite team (mom went there)

I think it's great hearing about new teams and the underdogs pulling off the huge upset every once in a while.

No upsets that I've seen yet today, though, Oklahoma, Ohio State (), and Michigan () all won.

The Tennessee Volunteers... GO BIG ORANGE!!!

Seriously though, Tennessee seems to take the biggest pride in their college team (from University of Tennessee, which I WAS attending for the past 3 years...) and we show it. They say that during football season, the high amounts of orange in the city causes birth defects in babies due to the radiation coming from the shade of orange we use... (which would explain a lot of defect idiots here).

Wouldn't Rutgers winning over Michigan St. be considered a rather large upset?

I don't really have a favorite team... Not too many college teams near our side of the border. I guess I'd go with Notre Dame (I had some sweatshirts of them when I was younger) and Boston College (kid that went to my high school plays there now).

Yep. Didn't see that when I posted before. LSU almost lost to Oregon State, they won on a missed PAT...

Since my alma mater didn't have a football team (+3 scene points) I've mostly been following, well, you figure these out.

* Hawaii (we loves us some Timmy Chang and the Fun 'n Gun offense)
* Minnesota (a couple of years ago, their QB had a great game against... I forget, but it was for Paul Bunyan's Axe... oh, by the way, it was during Ramadan and he's Muslim, so no fluids of ANY KIND for him)
* most Pac-10 football (I like offense, shoot me) as well as Mountain West teams (I'm already getting a man-crush on Urban Meyer's offensive philosophy... line up four wide, one RB... and RUN IT UP THE MIDDLE) like Utah and Colorado State
* Colorado, although the goodwill from their ASS-WHIPPING of Nebraska's kinda worn off

Yeah. This is what happens when you don't have a team to pull for and gotsta find one yourself.

I still remember that Colorado game.

It was thanksgiving time, and my family was in Williamsport, PA. My Uncle Brad lived in Nebraska, and was a diehard fan.

Oh man, he was so mad DD

Hawaii loses to a DIVISION I-AA team if what I read was right.

Talk about a big boo-boo.

Funny thing is that we don't get many regular season games aside from what's on ABC, but come bowl time... EVERYTHING's on.

Man...Minnesota showed one hell of an offensive line. They don't play Ohio St. or Purdue, so once they run all over Michigan next month, they should have themselves a co-Big 11 championship. With the Buckeyes, of course. Other than road games at Iowa, NC State, and Purdue, it's another easy national championship for them. Same old story...who's gonna score on them.

OOOOOF. It's been known to happen, Colleen... but still.

Minnesota might be the Big Ten's West Virginia. Good-to-great team with a VERY fortuitous draw, schedule-wise. Should be fun to see what they can do... a great offensive line can work wonders on a great defense.

Culotte, yes, that Rutgers game was a HUGE upset. A few years ago, RU was threatening to break Columbia's record for consecutive losses, or at least it felt that way.

Northwestern and Wisconsin both beat them in the Horseshoe... what's going on in Columbus?

Oh well, it's not as bad as what will happen to Callahan this week in Lincoln...

No, Northwestern didn't beat us in the 'Shoe. But yeah, this year's looking worse and worse. It's been a rebuilding year, and hopefully next year will be much better, although we won't have Nuge anymore. Oh well, as long as we beat the team up north this year.

He's, I believe, the backup for Jonathan Quinn. Yup, Bears. I think OSU has Zwick at QB (who I heard sucks... 'zat true?)

And yeah, Northwestern's win over OSU was their first home win over them in 50-something years. That's being owned, kids.

Yes, Zwick's our QB, and no, he's not that good. You gotta cut the kid some slack though, it's his first year and our offensive line is horrible. And these past two weeks have been horrible on breaking streaks. Northwestern hasn't beaten us at home since sometime in the 50s, and not at all since the 70s. That game was also the first overtime loss in school history. Then Wisconsin beat us at the Shoe, which breaks our 18 game winning streak at home, and the first time we've lost two in a row for quite some time.

Sigh.
