Hey i have loaded a level that is tile based and the locations are set but the type of tile is editable the format is

1[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
2[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
3[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
4[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
5[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
6[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
7[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
8[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]

it reads the first row then the 2nd row etc til 8 then goes to the next screen
ive tryed using a picturebox to do it but was wondering if there is any other efficient way of making up a tile based level editor..in vb if theres any suggestions...

try this:
gavin.panicus.org/downloads/example.zip

quite simply, you paint the tiles on the screen and it updates the array and displays the information to the right of it.

simpe stuff, hope it helps. if you have any other questions or the code is flawed i'll try to fix/help.

oh, and just a side-note: for some time now i've been working on a basic "shell" to a level editor. Currently it loads the game, has a tile painting field, can edit game graphics, edit game TSA, edit games palettes, et cetera. i'm hoping for a release if i ever get off my arese and finish it. it's been taking a bit longer just because it's boring working on the same large project and i have so many other ones... not to mention the fact that the whole program requires an extreme amount of flexibility. *gavin shrugs*

er... huh? i'm not quite sure what you just said

and i noticed that i made an error with the window and array display dimenions, they were both 1 larger than they should have been. it's fixed and re-uploaded right now. and yah, hopefully whatever routine you pulled from the program will suit your needs . again, any other questions and i'm more than happy to answer.
