Final Fantasy 64 was never an official game, and it was never even called Final Fantasy 64. It was nothing more than Square testing out SGI Workstations with characters from Final Fantasy VI. Probably to see what they could accomplish if they were to make a game for the Nintendo 64.

When some magazines got their hands on some screenshots of the test, the rumors of Final Fantasy 64 began and alot of people thought it was true. Anyway, you can see some screenshots and a video of the test at NeoMidgar.

As for remakes, it would be interesting if they did remake some of the good Final Fantasies, but I don't think we'll be seeing any of that soon.

I still want to see a remake of FFIIIj on Game Boy Advance, or Playstation. And yeah, PS2 remakes of VI and VII would kick ass. As long as it doesn't take away the original mood and atmosphere.\

VI nereds to be remade, but in 3d, like in those FMVs on the PSX version....that would just be awesome. However it would probably come out for the PS2 only, and not the Gamecube, leaving me screwed...maybe nintendo will decide to release a GOOD FF again

Actually, the rumors in 2003 were that Square would remake VII/VIII/IX for the GameCube and not the PS2 - although I would have to assume that Sony has first dibs to those remakes.

Oh, come on. Porting to places besides the US and Japan is risky and can be expensive. You act like they do it just out of spite

And then you get the rare European-only games which never come across the Atlantic.

Sega seems to support Europe fairly well actually, but Square has never been too friendly to our European amigos. I think Elmo mentioned how they got screwed on... FFX, I think.

Everything you mean?

The Europeans get screwed by most companies. But then again, the North American market is about 1000000000x bigger simply because America is a mass purchaser at a sickening degree.

But yeah, you guys got Samba De Amigo in relatively high copies compared to what Canada got. Me and my friend Robert are still looking for a copy nearby us with Maraccas and the game
