*Drool...*
Must... Have... Editor!
Some minor Graphical glitches, but maybe I'm using a different version. All in all, it is the best hack of YI I've ever played! Wait... It's the only hack of YI I've ever played... But it's still good! I got a 90 on the first level, a 95 on the second, and towards the end of the third, my comp went all wierd, froze and aI had to reboot.

Yep, same with me. Put the goal a bit farther away.

1-4 was awesome. I can't wait to see what you'll name the levels.

Everyone seems to have graphical glitches. I don't know, but I've tested this many times and there don't seem to be any. You have to apply the patch to version 1.0 (U) of the ROM. I worked hard on this to make sure it was glitch free, so it must be the wrong ROM. Except for that goal bug, I'll have to fix it.

It downloaded fine for me, and it's a damn good hack.

Like Kitten Yiffer told me in IM, 1-1 is a bit of a potpurri, you dabbling with the editor, and after that comes a few 'designed' levels. It's all good!

Yep, 1-1 was created before the level header editor was implemented, so I wasn't able to change that much, but then with the rest of the levels I went all out and changed the entire formats of the levels.

I hope everyone likes it, and can get a perfect score on each level.

Any idea why the IPS file is 1.9 megs in size? I patched the ROM, remade the IPS and it was only 5k in size.

Hmm...not quite sure why that happened. That's weird though...I used LIPS to make the patch, I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Played it, enjoyed it, played some more.

Sure the levels are short, but this is a "tech demo" to show what SM's editor can do. Here are my thoughts:

1-1: Change level name, please! I won't say this for the rest of the levels, although it does apply to them. Near the top with the wooden smash log (name?), it is snow-covered. Minor glitch. I liked how you went from car to mole and no break in between. Can make for some awesome puzzles...
1-2: Like the scroll level. That first flower (or second, can't remember which) is placed so if you stay to the left of the screen, you get hit by the fire dude (name?). I always hit it... and I always know it is there... good.
1-3: Weird... I don't remember that level... I will get back to you on this...
1-4: Awesome puzzle to solve throughout the castle. It is all one big puzzle. Getting the key there is a trip.

Overall: Not bad. Golden Yoshi, your levels are always creative and stuff. You were meant to hack this game (hence your name). Good work and creative... finish 1st world ASAP! I want more! Just kidding, take your time.

Thank you for your input cpu. I really wanted to change the level names very much, but since there is no text support I could not do it. There is a built in hex editor, but I do not know how to use one to edit the level names. If someone knew any offsets or something, that'd be nice.

BTW...1-3 was the jungle type level with the sunset BG.

In the YI Data Thread, there is a table set up there. You could always use that for text editing... like find "Make Eggs, Throw Eggs" when using the table in a hex editor...

Oh... now I remember... I actually enjoyed that level. Really fun and full of the baseball people. Lots of fun there...

Well, I just looked at the YI Data thread, and honestly, I have no idea how I would even access where the level names are stored. Sorry...but'll have to wait til there's a text editor.

Well... I copied and pasted the text table here... I have the whole document with the data saved on my computer so I can hack offline, so...

You copy all that in Notepad and save it as a .tbl... I think... I use Transhexlation for my hex editing, so that uses a .tbl for tables. Look up B6 D8 E2 DC, which with this table, would be Make. You should find the text that way...

I had to use the data saved on my computer because now the thread won't load fully online... even with refreshing a couple times, so sorry for the long post...

EDIT: Anything more than 1 letter should be removed. That would screw up things... I think...

Based on the size of the patch and what's in it, I'm guessing you accidently used a completely different file than the original YI game to create the patch. Or maybe the ROM you used as the original doesn't have a header and your hack does. Either way, the result is that there's so much of the YI ROM in this patch, you can even apply it to a Mario World ROM to get a partially working YI ROM.

You should probably double check the files you used, and remake the patch. It really shouldn't be almost as large as the ROM itself.
