I think internet boards tend to be a little skewed from the rest of the country. Especially given we have foreigners here.

I do believe this board has more people from the US (though even Acmlm is from Canada).

Oh aren't you all smart asses.

This is a topic about an American issue, and MathOnNapkins lives in America, so naturally he's going to refer to non-Americans as foreign. Who here could honestly have not figure that one out.

I wonder if, like the conspiracy theorists say, Bush received more votes than he was supposed to... Or if kerry votes were discarded...

But now it's too late, isn't it? Even if it turns out Kerry actually won Ohio, he conceded, therefore nothing will happen?

Well, Kerry would actually win but he figured that he would be better of mind-controlling Bush. That's why he gave up.

...conspiracy theories are usually intresting, but well. They're seldom true. (and it's so fun to debunk them )

If the exit polls were exactly accurate, we could call the election by 10 and go and have a beer. There's a reason why we count all the votes.

To be quite frank on this issue, exit polling can be quite the bitch. If people who hold democratic views in a republican strong precinct don't you think that in order to save face they may say republican? Exit polling is an extremely flawed form of sampling. As it is completely voluntary, thus as NSNick said, we have to count all votes. Of course, given the problems of technology that ranges from the late 1800s to the 21st century there are endless recounts and endless law suits because if you line up ever lawyer arm in arm in America you soon discover that it forms a direct portal to Hell.

I don't care and I never will care about arguments over spoiled votes. If you wanted your vote to be counted, you'd best do it right and make it unambiguous as possible. Voters who take elections seriously should be serious about their vote being correctly cast.. If I made a mistake on my absentee ballot, I was shit out of luck b/c there wouldn't have been much time to get a new one. They don't accept them with erasures or blemishes.

Still, they shouldn't have it possible to mess up and not have your vote counted. Next years debate resolution could be "That the United States Federal Government should substantially change its elction methods." (Or something like that) I am mad that Bush won, but meh, won't really effect me all that much. I have a life goal now though.

When I am 35... I want to run for president as an outside political party canidate and win at least 1 electoral vote. If I do that, I could prove winning is possible for people outside political parties.

1 electoral vote would prove that you still lost. badly. I'm sorry. Why third parties even PUT presidential candidates up is beyond me. They ought to solidify local and statewide recognition before jumping into the hotseat. Don't jump the gun.

That's why I like McCain. He's a rep, but he's like....the rebel of the group. He doesn't go along with everything the republicans stand for. He should have been the candidate in '00 but nOOOooo. He would have been a KICK ASS president, and he actually is a war hero. A real one, that is.

I hear word that he may run in '08. I'm not really sure he will, but I hope he does. He has my vote already.

McCain was a big reason I originally registered as a Republican.

Bush and his cronies are the reason I'm dropping my affiliation. Considering what he did to McCain in the primary is inexcusable at BEST.
