Hey guys, Are there any documents out there that explain the file format structure of the SMW ROM? I know that the author of Lunar Magic must have it down pat, but are there any documents out there laying it out? (In a kind of memory map format, you know... code, pattern tables, character data, variables, text, etc?) Thanks! |

Uhh... Well, the SMW memory thread has some useful things in it, but as far as I know, SMW hasnt been completely mapped out like that. (Or it has and the person is keeping it all to himself)

Shoot. Isn't the memory thread about where stuff is located once it's "in memory", ie: once it's running on the system or in an emulator? There's a good chance I'm wrong... Fusoya must have it mapped out, given the excellence of Lunar, but I'm not gonna bug him about it. Guess I'll just keep playing around. Mostly I've just been playing around with corruption. I'd like to corrupt specific areas of the rom or play around with them. For example, in one corruption, I was able to play the "opening title" level, in another some enemies movied with 10x the speed... I'd like to isolate where to corrupt to figure out where to make these effects happen. But I digress... |

Try here, corrupters allow you to isolate and manage data in rom files. Also see disassembling.

I have tried it but unfortunately nobody has been submitting sub routine information There are a few documented here but not many: SMW Open Source Project - http://arock.redirectme.net/subroutine.jsp |

Guess I'll keep hacking at it myself then, till I get bored... which I inevitably will... sooner or later. Thanks guys. |
