Hmm, I don't think there are that many people who can make custom sprites, but if it turns out the section would get enough input then I could do that.

Well, I know I can make some sprites. I can submit some later. I just have to arrange them in a .zip file and I will submit them soon.

I would also like to see some other peoples sprites. I would like to see them. I would like to see everyone's custom sprites.

I can create custom sprites.

I have handmade a goomba, and also "shaded" almost every sprite in the first 4 Gfx lists.

I have created a ghost fish, which I may use in a water ghost house?

I have MANY sprite rips, however most of the palettes aren't that great.

What Im currently in the process of doing is replacing mario with the SMB3 mario (I can't believe Anikiti beat me to it ). I am also trying to replace Yoshi with the YI yoshi. So NO one do that please!!

I would love to see YI sprite rip replacements. I have always wanted the koopas from that game...

You can use the Koopas. Just need to use ExAnimationGFX to make it look right. The palette is already good, so that would work out well.

See, I want them to replace the existing koopas. I am trying to replace EVERYTHING in the game with a rip or a custom creation. The koopas in YI are too big to replace the koopas in SMW. So maby some sprite editing might work....

Anyway, I have the YI shells (edited of corse), a custom bat with a YI bat like body, and everything in the first 2 GFX files is changed or shaded. I seem to like shading...looks so much better. I can't wait to release a demo, but I got to many glitches...

How about releasing some screenshots? That seems like an easy solution to your problem. I'd like to see this myself. I could probably learn from your sprite shading and such...

I need a couple of ideas for BG's as well. So far, I have a couple from Super Mario RPG and a couple from Super Metroid.

One level Mario is on top of Crateria, and Samus's Ship is very hard to get into ExGFX.

The protocol for getting his email, if I remember correctly, is pretty simple. Send your email address to him in a PM (so he can add you to his accept list) and he'll PM his address back.

I would be willing to donate a couple of my custom sprite jobs. They aren't very spectacular, just the enemies with borders I made for my hack a couple months back. I think they look nice, and as of yet, no one has said anything bad about them.

I actually have an entire shaded level in my hack (shoot, that was supposed to be a secret) I willl take a shot of the entire level and post it after school if I remember. I am really quite proud of my shaded YI turtle shells, pirana plants, goal tape, and I had shaded Yoshi's but not any more.

Just a bit late on this...

I decided not to post the entire level as that would give away secrets, so I decided to just post some sprites.

This is most of my shaded sprites that I have in the game. I am only posting these so I can go on record saying that I have them first.... The ones on the right (starting with the koopas over) are found in almost all the levels, and the others are only in the shaded level. I need to update them however, to match the new ones (the ones on the right)


Also, here are some levels that I thought I should post. They are links because the pictures are quite large (not size wise):

I am incredibly proud of this level. It was hard work ripping this, and I plan to use this set a few times in my hack.

This is the abandoned temple (replacing yoshi's house) and it is quite a large level. And yes the fire guys on the candles move and hurt you (unless your on yoshi, but I will sprite hack them so they will kill yoshi too).

So what do you think?

The sprites are... cool. The shaded ones look real good though, the goombas are... eh. The key looks good though and the ending tape looks good too.

As for that first screen, nice rip. Did you use Fu's YI decompresser to rip those graphics?

Second screen looks good... but please don't tell me it overwrites level 104. If it does, move it somewhere else. Use that level only for Yoshi's House (a little editing is okay, but if you overwrite the level, the ending credits are messed up...).
Word of warning to you about that.

Didn't know Fu had a YI decompressor.... I should try it out, may be better than the way I rip them.

And no it uses lvl 107. I knew enough not to overwrite that level because its used in the ending credits. All I did was put YH on the Main map, inaccesable, so that way when the ending credits came along it would look good.

I made that goomba by hand so I figured that it wouldn't turn out really great. I was trying to put the YI goomba in, but I ended up making this guy instead. I may however just make him a new sprite and use the YI goomba...

It is better to rip them. All you would have to do is edit the palette then. There are some unused stuff in the graphics of YI that I think you might find useful (maybe like the rest of the unused Bomb-Omb sprite...).

Would anyone mind ripping me (and assembling) the YI pine tree BG? I have tried about 3 times to rip it, and each time I have had no luck assembling it. It seems to use alot of flipped tiles and mirrored tiles. Also the tiles are scattered in the file. So if anyone has this BG or doesn't mind ripping it that would be great. Thanks.

Thanks Hidden Mario. The Tree BG is in level 4-5 (Mildes Fort pretty sure it 4-5). Also, if you could, ripping the BG from 4-1 would be great too. I know how to rip from YI, and have been for a while now, but the tree BG is just making me angry. So if you could rip the either one that would be great. Thanks.

The tree background is complex. It doesn't just use one palette, but two. Beileve me. Editing the palettes in Yoshi's Island, I noticed that it uses two completly different palettes to make it up. Good luck with just trying to get the palette figured out.

Palettes are no problem at all. I have a program that helps me with makeing the exact same palette found in YI. I have some BG's that have 3 rows of palette so 2 isn't really a problem. Its just the ripping and assembling it in the 16x16 editor thats the problem.
