The chinese mafia, the Triads, deal in exotic fish markets and illegal fish trade.

I'm guessing that the fish was a sign that he had done something wrong in the eyes of the mafia, and the Triads sent him that fish to show him that they were coming to kill him, so rather than prolong the inevitable, he decided to kill himself before they got to him, and just make the death painless, as opposed to the torture he would have had to endure before his death at the hands of Triad agents.

This one's way too far out there to matter, but I'm honestly out of ideas.

Early guess, as usual: Was Luigi's a restaurant in a hospital/care home so that the regular customers were people who had illnesses?

DV, there was nothing wrong with the food. No poison. Chef poisoning the food implies that there was something wrong with the food.

My bet's on Jagori for this one...

Obviously we're speaking in British here, where "ill" means in bad health and "sick" means "insane". So it's a bunch of mental patients eating there, yes?

The four corners of the US, of course. That is, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado.

By which I mean he hit the ball through those four states.

Jumping into this game...

Grey took my guess , but I have a question down another path.
Were the "states" the ball traveled through actually United States?

If Grey's not right I don't know where else to go with it yet.
