Since Nintendo decided to use Palete 8 for both mario paletes and line guided platforms, and if we change palete 8's paletes that affect mario we wont have a cool result ( ) and since the other colors of palete 8 are overwriten anyway so its no result changing them, I decided to change the line guided platforms at yy_chr to pink, to make it look like exactly as Yoshis Island platforms.
The problem is that when you are Fire Mario, the paletes get a weird look, coz the Fire Mairo paletes share the same colors as the line guided platforms

So, I'd like to know if it is possible to make the line guided platforms use other paletes (maybe by ASM?) instead of any of the row of palete 8

Id be happy if help is given, thanks!

About the palette changing thing... I think it would be a simple pointer change of what palette the sprite uses. But dont take my word for it... I dont do this kinda stuff

I really can't help with the palette problem but I will say that the screens look really cool! I have always tried to get the big plants in my hack, but make them actually work. No success, so when you said that the plants ^ ^ what do you mean? I really like the graphics those logs are extreamly well done. In the second shot, to the right, there is a bladed thing that looks like it is the ball and chain. The palette is really bad on that, it needs to be changed.

Oh, and one thing that really bugs me about some of the hacks, is the SMB3 leaf. When it falls, it doesn't look right. You need to change it to make it the falling leaf you see in the game. Its not that hard to find. And again, another thing that really bugs me is the small pirana plants that you have on the side of those blocks. One side is bigger than the other and they look bad. But most people don't mind it...

So overall this looks cool, and sorry I can't help with the palettes. You might beable to make them act as the same palette as the large pirana plants, and just make them (the plants) a pinkish color.

Good luck, and hope for a demo sometime...

Keikonium: thanks mate ^ ^. i'll fix those ball and chain paletes, i saw it w/ more care now and realised that they are really not cool w/ those paletes, tnks for pointing that
Also, I didn't want to use the original leaf of smb3 coz various hacks use it, and no hack that ive seen has used the leaf of the world map form pf smb3, i thought it was more original w/ it in the smb3'ow form of apearance of the leaf

sorry, i cant do that too coz the giant plants are animated FG tiles, and the brown platforms are sprites, so theres no way to share paletes between them

Hmmm... well... you could just make the beginning of the level have some custom blocks so you don't go to the lifts if you have the Fire Flower. Then you make a different place for just Fire Mario, and the other (with the platforms) for normal Mario.

It might not be the best solution, but it won't make the platform change.

Thtas not the best way to go about it. Because if you are cape mario with a mushroom in your nox, your stuck. Have a clear path for every power up and then a path that wont let you pass if you have a fire flower or a fire flower in your item box.

Why didn't you recolor the platforms like I did in SMQ. You can use the colors you don't need for palette 8.

H Mario: Thats exactly what i did But the line guided platforms use palete 8, and the normal platforms (the ones that spin around) use other palete, the one w/ grey colors


Edeet: I added 2 animation blocks at the entrance of the level, they display various items. Screen will be showed this night

Also, I ripped a new set. I'll post screens later in this thread to avoid making a new one.

I took a look at the palette info in the ROM and I think I found something that may help you. It looks like you are using sprite 62 for your line guided platforms. If so, you can change the palette that they use by modifying ROM address 0x03F660 (originally E1). Changing E1 to the following will give you new palettes.

E1 - palette 8
E3 - palette 9
E5 - palette A
E7 - palette B
E9 - palette C
EB - palette D
ED - palette E

these are very useful! I'll just have to change some paletes in yy and do this address editing, thats exaclty what i needed

I guess I'll be able to take off those 'no power up fields' then
