Okay, I tried to fit as much as possible in that title, so it might be hard to understand. The first thing, I would like to know where that ASM hack to make all Rexes small instaid of starting out big, for use to make retro Goombas in the same level as Blue Koopas, being that Rexes will not be seen in this hack. Also, the second part, I was asking if anyone could possibly make an ASM hack that loads a different ExGFX file depending on if Player 1 or Player 2 is playing, for Mario/Luigi of course. I just can't stand "Green Mario Luigi", and using SMAS+W lessens the space for levels and ExGFX due to the other games included on it that wouldn't be touched anyway. Can anyone help me with these two things? Also, the hack it's for, well, it's a secret for now so this would be applied to a basic SMW rom, or one after the basic LM hacks are added. To anyone who can and or will help, thanks!

Change Rex into Goomba:

Change 19742 to 00 and 197B8 to 01
To change which palette the rex uses, figure out which palette you want to change to (only palettes from 8-F are valid for sprites). Then subtract 8. Then multiply by 2. Call this number x. You take x and add 41 hex or 65 decimal and put this new number at rom address 1987C. Then you take x and add 01 hex or 01 decimal and store this number at rom address 1987D. That should change the palette used.

Woah, not just the switch, but how to change the palette to use too! Thanks! Say, I forgot to ask, but I want to make sprites as different as possible, and I remember the TSA and other things for some sprites being in a post, would someone mind redirecting me to which one that was or reposting the info? Also.... I am curious why they require all the hubub with adding and subtracting numbers for the Rex palette, I would think it would just be subtract 8 because the sprites use the upper palettes and not lower ones...

There is more that has to be changed to make rex into a proper goomba (speed for one I think). I dotn know what, I think it was on the old board but is now gone

As for why the wierd-looking math, its because that byte codes for more than just the palette.

The speed won't change (it will still walk slow). However, the real problem is the Mario/Sprite collision detection. Mario can get hurt by the invisible and unused upper part of the Rex.

(By the way, to increase the speed of the rex, change 19744 (ROM address) to 02 4A.)

The Rex data that I found isn't gone!
BTW, there's some other useful addresses in this file that don't envolve the Rex's, so you get both (and all the text in Red up at the top are a bunch of addresses that change the Music that plays in certain scenes/areas)

The only things I haven't found on the Rex's yet, is the address that changes their collision size (before stomping on them the first time), and the address(s) that changes it's Palette.

Note: Actually, this doesn't require any ASM at all, it's just changing a few values,... so it shouldn't be too hard to understand (and I don't even know ASM myself, so if this required ASM, then technically, this file I put together would even exsist)

Wow, lots of usefull things I never though about, this will let me customize the game even more! Thanks! Too bad nobody seems to know how to make an ASM hack to load different graphics depending on which player is playing, because I despise the Green Mario which is supposed to be Luigi but is just a Green Mario.

No thanks, while they rock, the hack this will be implented in has graphics in the works allready if the graphics maker isn't busy, and he will do them all in a special "style", different from SMW or the style you used. I'd still love to play that hack though!


Edit: Still, why not implent that into the hack you are showing them in, or release the graphics for others to use, or did you only want to give them to me?

HOLY COW! Exept for the status bar palette problem and the layer problem, those shots are... ... There's no words to discribe them!!!

Edit: By the way... It would be REALLY cool if you made level 1-1 or 1-2 from SMB in the same style!

Edit 2: Another cool effect would be if a platform was shaped like an L. From above: _| From the side: _/. In other words, you see the rest of the level on the Z axis. At that platform, you could put invisible doorsthat let's you "change the camera angle" and continue the level. You could also make it T shaped and use both doors and pipes. (However, it would be required to somehow change the pic of Mario going down a pipe to Mario walking towards the cam.) It would be really cool anyway.

Oh, no I didn't mean as a public source of Gfx, because I know that way to many people would want to use them, and then a lot of hacks would alike (Mario and Luigi' s gfx)

But it would still be cool to see them in my hack when completed.
