In Kingdom Hearts, I found distrubing that in all the worlds of Disney, there are sickos that like stuffing puppies into treasure boxes three at a time.

That reminds me about Earthbound. Year 199X... and a libary say that you should return a book before year 2000.

Yeah, just enough time to copy all the relevant information from it.

Why would the dude in Dig-Dug take an air pump with him underground? And how can Pac Man eat all those pellets and fruit and avoid ghosts if he doesn't even have any eyes (I'm talking about the old version of him)?

Oh, please. Earthbound's got so much more you could point out as strange, it's what makes it one of my favorite games.

Let's see if I can hit them all: Psychic powers, talking appliances, phone calls that cost a dollar, alternate reality hallucinations, dinosaurs, swamps that poison you, a giant walking desert idol, moving heiroglyphs, the loch ness monster, the fact that it takes Jeff the same amount of time to fix a spray can as it does to fix a random machine or gadget, but he can fix a UFO even faster. The UFO itself, randomly hearing music, a bee from the future, gangbusting, the starmen, aliens, the greatest enemy you'll ever face ending up being your next door neighbor, the mani-mani statue, a cult devoted to the color blue, a baseball bat or frying pan doing more damage than a laser, the awesome healing powers of (insert food here), the whole Poo character, the cast of enemies, the Runaway Five ditching you constantly, the diamond mines, time travel, turning into robots, the guy who randomly takes your picture, fatal hospital wounds costing 110 dollars per revival, magic butterflies, magic cakes, magic tarts, magic pudding, magic truffles, the piggy nose, multi bottle rockets...

And finally, the greatest enigma of Earthbound: Mr. Saturn.

Go Grey!

Earthbound is a great game, and as I was reading your post, Grey, I was getting ready to make a post saying "Don't forget Mr. Saturn!" Until I read the last sentence. I think I will have to deem Mr. Saturn the coolest video game icon whos relevance remains ambiguous.

So cool... =D

Indeed Earthbound kicks ass. IF ONLY, if only Nintendo hadn't axed the next game in the series. The game was an underground classic, it just isn't right that Nintendo can't continue the madness for the real fans. Plus, HAL Labs is still turning out games, I don't see why they can't reform Halken and make it.

You signed that old petition a few years back, right? I did. The world needs another Mother! If it did come out, I have a feeling this thread would have plenty to talk about for years to come.

I knew about the GBA game, but I was referring more to the cancelled N64 sequel when I said axed. I also thought the GBA game was just gonna be a remake of Mother or Earthbound? It'd be cool if it really were an all new game...

Sadly Earthbound was never released in Earthbound, so it's pretty much known just in US... and emulation/importer fanatics in Europa.

Why they don't release the Earthbound remake here is beyond me...

Wait, does that mean you've never played Earthbound?

You better not say yes to that question....

Ok!

To make it short:

- Mother (NES) - Not released in US
- Mother II (SNES) - Released in US as Earthbound
- Mother III (GBA) - To be released, new game, no remake.

They released Mother I&II for GBA months ago, it wasn't released in US though.
