Too lazy to re-post what I already posted at TEK... So, here it is!

Please tell me what you think of both the site and the hack.

Well, I have a bit of a problem... In Brinstar, in the corridors that you pass through AFTER the palette change, those palettes are not accessible using metedit. But, after I took the palette change out, the energy tank is gone! (The one in plain sight)

Whenever I want the same post at the two boards, I go back to my original post, hit edit post, and copy everything, and paste it at the other. It saves typing, and brings over the entire post, word for word, link for link.

Nice graphics. I don't like the doors though... but since you said you will change them, then there isn't anything to worry about. Good work.

Here is a message from Vagla to help you with your problem KP...

Message from Vagla
6415 in the NES ROM (with header) is 0C by default; that's the x coordinate of the palette swap. You can change it to 00 and thus move the palette swap to the very left side of the map (00,07), which has no active room by default. Just be sure to not use (00,07) for anything (in Brinstar, at least. Putting a room there for a different area of the game should work fine) or you'll need to move the palette swap to a different location.

The reason moving the palette swap in MetEdit messes with the energy tank is because MetEdit changes the coordinates for the entire row. Obviously, that's no good in this case, since you just want to move the palette swap and not the rest of the row. Changing 6415 should leave the energy tank alone.

Hope that helps

On a side note, you site and hack are looking pretty good KP, nice job.

I actually sorta like the doors, they are unique. They look like bio-doors . Looks like a promising hack, nice palette. It really looks like it will have that authentic Metroid feel, but in a slightly altered environment. I like the banner on your website, also.

I really like the new palette; the brown circles in particular look nice. How about editing the rooms and making a genuine hack?

Actually, the idea behind my new hack is to make it available for other people to use for their own hacks. I may do a hack of my own, but for now, only the gfx are going to be changed.

When i release it, people will be able to patch it to the original rom and THEN start their hack. I plan to start working on a new look for the metroids and I plan to start work on tourian tonight. Of course, i plan to work out all of the pallette and gfx bugs as well.

The GFX for this hack are ripped from megaman games 2 through 6.

You will notice that on the cieling of brinstar, the "spikes" gfx are messed up. I would like to have someone help me do some hex changes to make that look better.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for games that i might rip gfx from?

EDIT:::

THE SHOTS HAVE BEEN UPDATED!

Also, i have figured out how to fix the "spikes" in brinstar's ceiling, by using different 8x8 tiles to make up the 16x16 tile. So, not only the gfx are going to be changed, some hex will make it look a lot better!

I have added the Palette change back in, and searched for the palettes that metedit does not see. I have just taught myself some tricks that just opened up the playing field for this hack!!!

The only sprites i plan on changing are the metroids. Game is 60% done!
