This hack is locked. You will be shunned from the community for violating this lock. I've seen it happen before. Think before you act!

Things you should not comment on when commented on this hack:

The waterfall on the overworld, I know this, but I didn't have enough time to make this release contain the fix.

The background on mushroom heights. I lost my BG file for that when I accidently saved over it. That was a mistake. Sorry.

The background on the underground levels. I am aware that they suck. I again didn't have time to make them. I set my release date too soon, and to meet my date, I had to deprioritize some GFX and prioritize a few major bugs I found.

The graphics of the trees on the overworld. I forgot to implement them before making the IPS patch. As they do NOT affect gameplay, they will not be uploaded with another file.

The overworld event graphics. I am very much aware that when the events happen, the graphics are a little fudged up. I know that some of them are glitchy as well. This can't be fixed for this release.

Any comments regarding this stuff will be ignored.

You may comment on:

The playability.
The replayability.
The ExGFX and BGs other than noted above
The level structure.
The difficulty.
Questions about how to beat something, the easiest way to beat something, or how the hell you are supposed to get the secret levels.
Anything I didn't mention in the above section.

Notes/Credits

Most of the levels contain original art work, none of them contain the regular SMW artwork (Besides the overworld.) I did 95% of the artwork present in this hack, KT15X and Skateboarder11 ripped the SMB3 Grassland Tileset featured in 2 or 3 levels. (The pipes are featured in ALL levels...) Much of the art was inspired by (NOT ripped from) SMB3. Grassland tileset is it. The rest I did myself in YY-CHR and Photoshop 7.

I will NOT be uploading my ExGFX for any reason. You may NOT rip graphics from this hack. These were made with my own hard work and not yours, so don't even THINK about stealing them.

This hack features music from the SMB3 portion of SM All Stars (thanks to Bouche.)

This hack features many Custom Blocks (thanks Jonwil.)

I must say, as one of the most critical of hacks, this looks quite good.

A few problems: the palette on the mushroom greatly contrasts that of everything else. It'd be good every once in awhile but you use it too much.

The backgrounds are... Sparse. I just don't like that effect you're using... And on the three layers of green at the very bottom, they're too different, you need to make more levels of it...

I didn't check too many screenshots as I've got to be going to my tutor's house, but... Pretty much all the problems are minor and can be overlooked. Very good job.

Yea, looks pretty damn good. My main comment is that the overworld could use a larger variety of sprites / colors.. right now all you have is mushrooms and hills. And it's all green, except some water at the edges. Try layering the terrain (make higher/lower levels), adding more visual relief, etc. You probably plan to already, though.

I forgot to mention that the back grounds were not finished, so they probably look like crap. I'll take all of these comments under consideration, thanks a lot.

I'll update this topic when I get the BGs finished and the overworld a little more... whatever.

I LOVE the overworld mushroom idea!
The background could use a little more effort although, I did like the one with the dusk gradient and the shrouded hills. The rest of the graphics look original, sort of semi-retro if you'd ask me. Good luck on the hack!

I'm working on the BGs and overworld as I type, I decided to give the overworld a complete overhaul (had ExGFX waiting...) and get it done now instead of later.

They are creative, although not the best... but they are original and not much is ripped. That is a good thing. Good work and hope the level design is good.

Looks good. The mushroms on the Overworld are very nice, but contrast with the green too much (Possibly make them 1-up mushrooms?) The Palettes are very Rich in most places, but the 1-pixel alternating gets a bit irritation on my eyes. All in all, it looks very well done.

Though Im wondering how you are going to fit the whole title on the title screen

The 1-pixel-alternating, to me, is actually something I like-- it gives an effect to the blocks you use it on, which ... I don't know, I just like it.

Backgrounds: ARRRGH. Horrible, horrible... not because of the colors, no... it's just the fact that I look at it and say "What background?" there's nothing back there! Just colors.

I looked through them all... nice (though bland) title screen.


There's one good thing that stands out with the custom graphics and all:

THE STATUSBAR FONT IS NOT FUCKED UP.

The level design and the GFX are awesome. BUT the BGs suck. They only fit with the cave level.

Here is a background change in GE1, nothing too special. I only spent an hour or so on it. I am aware that the pallete needs some work, but I felt it would be appropriate to show some progress.



Here is a rather large overworld change... (still incomplete... new GFX for trees will be around soon.)
