Right now I use Megasis. It IMO isn't the greatest emu because the screen size is small and it doesn't have to many features. The sound sucks and its choppy. What emulator should I use, instead of this, for Genesis ROMs? Thanks

I personally use Kega and WGens. Either one works just fine for me, really. I'm not sure, but I think Kega might have been discontinued... the website's been down for a while. You can find them here. |

Gens, hands down. It's been the only one to really work for me at least.

I'm surprised there haven't been more "d00d get Genecyst it r frum the makurs of NESticul!!1!!1" Though I shouldn't be, since people here actually, you know, keep up with the emulation scene. In any event, I used Kega and one other one, I think it was Gens. |

I use Gens, it supports Genesis / 32x / Sega CD (with the proper bioses). There's a problem with fullscreen though, so I run it in a maximized window. Hope they'd fix it in a new release, but it seems unlikely. |

Gens should be perfect for your needs. There's a few really good emulators out there, but I've never had a problem with it. Good speed and options. Genecyst isn't a terrible choice but it's been surpassed. |

I too favor Gens over Kega. Gens even runs Mega CD as stated by Proto K. You can use it to play Sonic CD and stuff. Although Kega seems to be slightly faster on a slower system, it should be no problem for you.

The only "real" advantage I've had from Kega lately (although I've been using Gens more) is the SMS/GG support. I liked having everything* supported in a single emulator. But who knows, maybe Gens will support SMS/GG games at some point, and then I can have everything* in a single emulator again. *: "Everything" being a somewhat relative term here. |

Genecyst used to be pretty good but there's better emulators. Gens is one of them.

I don't play SG too often, but when I do, I find Gens to be the most compatible, and have the best sound and gfx quality.

Kega Fusion has been released. http://eidolons-inn.net/tiki-index.php?page=Kega It seems to run pretty smoothly (especially for a beta version). (edited by Koopa on 07-18-04 12:06 AM) |

Hmm..maybe I should try to get a emu since all my other emus were lost in the last 2 re-boots of my comp. I didn't have a Genisis one though. I wondered where to get one and which one was better. I'll try Kega Fusion eh or Gens.

Kega Fusion looks good so far, but it is still beta, so I'm going to wait to test that out. (That, and it takes 100% CPU usage while active, no matter how fast your machine is ). |
