That would be the 100th reply, 101st post

I'm at work right now, and all I get to listen to is the radio ... from a little phone speaker a dozen feet away, so almost all I hear from the songs is the singer (and a small bit of background), which makes most of them boring or sound like nonsense, not to mention their "playlist" isn't very big and I hear the same crap every day

Listening to those same songs with full sound (in my headphones when I'm on my computer) is nowhere as bad, though

Symphony X - Smoke and Mirrors

Blazing fast guitar riffs mixed with some slower parts and nice harmonized vocals. A pretty good soong overall. The only fault I see is that sometimes Symphony X takes the art part of the "art metal" a bit too far, making it sound akward in an album that falls under the metal genre. Still, it's a great song.

The song seems to be about living behind "smoke and mirrors", or basically being confused as hell. I haven't actually read the lyrics, so I can't actually verify that, but just from listening to it, that's what it seems to be about.

"Mr Roboto" - The Styx. I havent heard this song, or ANY of the Styx songs in general, for a long time. I'm not a huge fan of them or anything, but I find this song cathy...so I put in The Best Of Styx.

(This song was on at a dance and some people were doing the robot...it was lame)

An amazingly groovey band from Canada...w00d5b17ch.

1337ified Canadian instrumental black metal.

These guys are really talented, although a lot of their music is slightly repetitive, it is more than impressive. Reminicent of Darkthrone's later "still black metal" stuff, or some of Varg's earlier demos, but you know...Good. The drumming really fits the guitar and bass work. This is just one of those things ALL metal fans have to hear. Mind you, it took me a while to find someone willing to let me download these m0f05s...If anyone wants it, I will gladly send them the 1)3m0

DJ Mystic - Angels Crying

Up-beat, nice lyrics, and the original Angels Crying was by E-Type, a sweet Euro-pop group.

* witeasprinwow np: Iced Earth - Gettysburg (1863) - Movement 1 - The Devil To Pay [12:15m/192Kbps/44KHz]

It's from Iced Earth's latest album. It's a three-movement song about the battle of Gettysburg.

It's an interesting deviation from Iced Earth's usual fantasy source material. The entire album chronicles various wars in history, although mostly from an American point of view. I actually haven't sat down and listened to the third movement yet, which is a crime, and I fully intend to do it tonight. They're pretty musical, but doubly so interesting.

As for the song itself, I love the orchestrated parts. They integrate violins and such into a very metal sound without entering the realm of show-off-ish "art metal", which is quite impressive.

What a fucking band. The guys just play really well. I heard this song for the first time last night. This is perhaps my fourth listen.

* witeasprinwow np: Megadeth - Holy Wars... The Punishment Due [06:37m/128Kbps/44KHz]

I love the guitar, but I hate the vocals. As for the music, it's metal. There's some interesting riffs, but there's not much else to say about it. I don't know what the hell the song is about, simply because I refuse to pay attention to the vocals.

Like most of the songs I heard from them, the beat is catchy but the lyrics are very simple. I have the beat stuck in my head ><
