Gone by Kelly Clarkson

She is a really good singer. All of her songs on here album Breakaway, especially Gone, are all great. And cause she beat out so many people on American Idol, you know she has real talent and is not just one of those rich people who decided they wanted to sing.

I have my own format for these things.

Song: One Winged Angel
Artist: Nobuo Uematsu
Album: Final Fantasy VII OST CD4
Genre: Soundtrack
Length: 7:19
Comments: Nobuo Uematsu is one of the most brillant writers I've ever had the pleasure of hearing work of in my life. Out of every musical artist, whether they be dead or alive, whether they be death metal or classical piano music, Nobuo Uematsu blows them clear out of the water. I'm just sad because he never continued on with all the Final Fantasy games, but I guess he realized how shitty they were getting =/

Lately, I have been listening to a lot of Dir en grey. I avoid reading biographies of bands whose music I like, because I like to enjoy the music, not the band, but I skimmed the Wikipedia article on DeG a few days ago and was surprised. Apparently, their lyrics are very violent, vulgar, controversial and construed as offensive. One song is apparently told from the perspective of an unborn fetus being ripped from the womb.

This came as a surprise, because despite Kyo's bouts of screaming and shouting in often-demonic tones, I see only passion and beauty in his voice. I suppose that's the advantage to listening to lyrics in a language foreign to you; since you don't know the explicit, the intended meaning of the word, you can listen to the sound of the word, and the human voice becomes a musical instrument. In DeG's case, Kyo's instrument is absolutely unique, no one in the entire world has that same instrument. It's an instrument that only he can command, and that can never be reproduced. I like that.

For you to understand what I'm talking about, I reccomend listening to Dead Tree, Saku and Jesus Christ R'nR. I actually have other reccomendations, but there's another quirk to the way in which I listen to music. I try my best to avoid learning the title of a song. Like knowing the meaning of a word, knowing the title of a song spoils it for me, turns something abstract and beautiful as music into something concrete and dull as a word or phrase.

But if you've never heard DeG before, listen to Cage first. It'll ease you into their sound, which can at times be very raw. Dir en grey is the kind of band where, if you listen to the wrong song at first, you could be permanently turned off to them. Cage can be downloaded (yes, legally) at the bottom of this page. And don't let the top of the page fool you, they no longer dress up in colorful costumes. See, Kyo used to be in La Sadies, a visual kei band whose style influenced DeG in their early days.

Eminem - The Real Slim Shady

This is a classic I remember from HS--about the only rap i ever listened to in much of my life. Not sure why I liked it...maybe because of the beat, the lyrics, who knows... i enjoy it

Right now, I'm listening to the soundtrack of Starcraft. It took me a bit to hunt down the mp3's... I couldn't get them off of my game, as I lost the CD . It's kind of cool, actually...I favor the Zerg music parts...

ZIon - Solo un Noche

A Reggeaton song! Well I just love his voice and how everything just flows, the smoothness of everything is relaxing. I dont know what CD this is off of because someone sent it to my sister but I should buy it or just burn it. It's kind of a slow song but a goody

Supermoves by Overseer.

I've been doing a massive search of old songs that I used to have but lost a while back and this was one of them that I finally got back a hold of today. Matrix or Animatrix remix, your pick. On a side note, the Top Gun Dual Fighters NSF files that I got the other day that I've been wanting for sooooo long rocks ass.

I'm listening to"Juste un peu de Silence" by Calogero and some woman whose name I do not know. This is a beautiful duet which features piano music and as we all know, piano = w00t. The song title translates to "Just a little silence" or at least I'm pretty sure it does. I don't know what the "de" is.
It's a very beautiful song and I really wish I knew what the lyrics were so I could tell what it's about. I can't find a translation for it anywhere and je ne comprend pas francais.

I'm listening to the AWESOME Vicious Crusade of Russia. Sure the track I'm listening to, Lost Generation, is one of their worst...It is still absolutely awesome. And as far as a Russian metal band goes, it is awesome that they play just regular metal without being neo-nazi racists

I was thinking that but wouldn't that make it "just a little of silence"?

I'm listening to Last Song by Edward Bear. It's a classic song that came on the radio the other week when I was going out to get some food. I didn't know who sang it so I had to do a lyrics search, wasn't too hard.
It's a very good song and I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before. The 70s was chock full of good stuff.

Listening to come back kid - Wake up the dead

Its pretty much about how alot of people arent living to their full potential. Like having a dead end job. Waking up the dead as in people who are living like zombies they are alive but not actually living their life.

The lyrics are like most hardcore/straight-edge lyrics..uplifting and empowering.

Time to set all y'alls straight.

np: Matthew Good Band: "Anti-Pop"

This song singlehandedly blows away anything else on the album before this, Beautiful Midnight. Musically, it's kind of interesting, as the beginning guitar riff sounds just ever so slightly looped. It's that the end gets cut off a weeeee bit. THEN comes the RAWK, along with distorted/maybe filtered? vocals. Speaking of which, the lyrics are kinda interesting, in that there's some anti-music biz/entertainment lyrics ("If you give it up they'll love you for it/Give them blood and they'll love you for it"), but then a chorus that half-questions love and assumptions: "You're not my girl/You're just tired". Add in some kids-chorus backing vocals, and it basically lives up to the name, while STILL being catchy. Impwessive.

Neil Young - My My, Hey Hey

Simply a classic rock song, eschewing a sentiment I quite agree with: "It's better to burn out than fade away"

Seether-"Remedy"

Best song off "Karma and Effect" IMO. It's one of those songs which are ground-breaking from start 'til finish and has an amazing chorus. I've already heard this song many times and yet I still love it. Great song.

Machinae Supremacy - March of the Undead

Originally heard about these guys through Kasumi Astra. Damn, these guys are good! It almost sounds like Korn trying to do progressive rock with a dash of techno (apparently called SiD Metal...not too sure how else to label it.)

Long story short, if you like progressive or industrial rock, give these guys a listen.

Richard Thomson - Oops I Did It Again

Richard Thomson is an accoustic guitarist who put out an album entitled "1000 years of popular music". The title is literal - it sweeps from the oldest round in the English Language (Sumer Is Icumen In) through some English folk and Italian opera type stuff, to some old blues numbers and then ABBA and Britney. Bloody awesome stuff, really.

A Finnish band I found through an AMV. I have no clue what they're singing, but that doesn't stop me from playing the song over and over. XD It's rock, I can't really describe it more than that.

Now to look for more of their music. XD

Eh, that's sort of the same deal as I have with Garmarna. Not a clue what "Gamen" (I think that's it) is all about, but I saw the video on some overblown public access channel in Washington, DC when I was there, and me likee the folk-gone-Prodigy sound.

np (well, not right NOW but when I get back in the car): Notorious BIG/Frank Sinatra: "Juicy/New York, New York"

Ones who aren't intrigued by Blue Eyes Meets Bed-Stuy can't get in. It's another mash-up album, this one pairing Biggie Smalls' vocals over Frank Sinatra songs. And, like The Gray Album, it isn't just a straight vocals-over-instrumental effort, as the guy who did it makes beats from the song. Only complaint? It's TOO SHORT. He only uses one verse from "Juicy", and the song's but two minutes.
