I felt as if MKD was a disappointment, not for the double player aspect, but the restrictions on moving over the track. You couldn't throw players off the tracks and stuff, which was a major factor in MK64.

Well, but then Mario kart: Double dash dosen't have any "illegal shortcuts" like Mario kart 64 had.

Is it just me? Or is the gamecube games less glitchy that their 64 prequel?

I'd cast my vote for both SMA4 (just the un-originality Nintendo did) and Mario Kart: Double Dash.

The problem with SMA4 is that the goodies are all on e-Reader cards. I don't want to pay to get all sorts of extras.

And the problem with MK:DD is that it really doesn't have that Mario Kart feeling in the other three games. I own them all, and I tend to play MK64 the most, then MK:SC, then the original. I really don't like DD.

I'm not sure about all games, but I'd say that MK:DD is less glitchy.

I was disappointed in Yoshi's Island at first, because it looked like a kids' game...then I started playing it and realized that it was a really good game.

Also, I was disappointed about Mario Bros. appearing in EVERY Super Mario Advance game. There ARE other Mario games that could work as minigames...(Dr. Mario for one)

Unoriginality? What are you, fucking stupid? Hopping around in a giant shoe, donning a HB outfit, frog suit and raccoon suit, landing feet first in a land where everthing is bigger than Marlon Brando and wearing Raccoon ears with a tail isn't original? WTF do you want? I don't think you can get much more original than that... short of making an item that forces Mario to undergo a sex-change...

He means unoriginality in that they took a game that's already been remade and... Remade it again. With the only extra features being the E-Reader stuff. Which we Europeans DON'T GET.

At least SMA3 had six extra levels.

The concept of Yoshi's Island looking like a kid's game baffles me. What, were all the other Mario games suddenly the epitome of gritty realism? O.o''

SMB2 isn't a rip-off either. If they had released Doki Doki Panic over here, THEN released SMB2, then it WOULD be a rip-off. But they didn't. And Doki Doki Panic is a good game, and although it wasn't originally a Mario game, it's definitely one nowadays.

If we didn't have SMB2 we wouldn't have Shy Guys as a common foe. That would be just wrong, I tells ya.

I haven't really been disappointed, exactly... Sunshine is probably the weakest of the Mario games (lack of varied environments and classic foes). Along with Yoshi's Story, which was pretty weak too (no incentives, like extra levels, for high scores).

But disappointed? Nah. They're still pretty darn classy games.

I was impressed when I saw Yoshi island's graphic for the first time.

Yoshi Island's graphics was made as an rebellious move from Shigeru Miyamoto, who didn't like the direction the video game indusrty had back then. People expected an game from Shigeru with pre-rendered graphics. And he made an game which did look hand-drawn.

I never found Yoshi island "kiddish", Yoshi story on the other hand... sure it had good moments but it's isn't the best platformer.

I probably get around buying SMA3 some day, 6 new levels into my favorite game dosen't seem that bad. (but that's probably will be the only remake I buy for my GBA )

I've rented MKDD, but it didn't interest me. The problem with Mario Sunshine is that it's graphic style just wasn't right. There should only be one game of that kind (in other words, NO sequels) and it has "Wind Waker" in the title (we're in a Mario forum - so I won't talk about that). I'm big on comparing games, so I hope my post isn't too much.

That reminds me, I declared SMB3 to be the least reliable NES game of all time a while ago. The most reliable? The championship goes to Mega Man 3.
This is rating of how often the games load properly, not replay value. It's too bad I can't test this with the Japanese system.

I'd like to have Yoshi's Story (I owned the game for a short time before disappearing), but it might be tough to find now.

Uh, the graphical style in Mario Sunshine was NOT cel-shading, and was not the same as Wind Waker, at all. The graphical style in Mario Sunshine was merely an update of the Super Mario 64 graphical style.

As for reliabilty of cartridges loading, I'm sure that's simply down to the individual cartridges, is it not?

My SMB3 cart glitched quite often for me... but it probably was just my cart.

It was the only cart that did glitch with my NES sometimes, I wonder if it something with that special chip SMB3 uses...

But in general, it's like Fyxe said.

Then try it. It's really quite fun. You can play it just like the other Kart games (i.e. one player controls two characters). You don't need two people to play the game.

My only beef with Double Dash is that there isn't a banana bunch item like in the previous game Other than that, Double Dash is the best of the 4 games.

But in the older version there was an trick for getting ride of the bannan if you did run into them... in MKD there is no such trick.

In a way, the bananas have been stronger. So there maybe were no use for "banana bunch item".

I like the giant bananas that DK and diddy have.

But... but the banana bunch was so fun! I'd frequently have a trail of bananas behind me and drive right in front of someone. Spins them out and lays a clutter of bananas on the track. Ka-whoosh!

And the giant bananas are awesome!

Most Mario games are good, but I so hate it when the game doesn't add new stuff after you've beaten the final boss. Like in Paper Mario, an awesome game, right? But you beat Big Bowser and beat the game, reload and there you are, right before the final boss again! Who wants to fight the final boss over and over again? Now, in SMA4, after you've mastered every World you can go back and play any level you want, whenever you want to! That's very important to someone like me because I'm a ROM Hacker and I use the levels in my studies.

There are no towns and all you do is go into paintings? It's really so much more than that. You go into the stages to collect the stars, and there's even a plot to it(although not a really good one, at that).
