-If you're going to hack the music, make sure the result isn't painful to listen to. I thought Euclid's tunes were pretty grating after the first repeat, especially since they're just the original songs but with chimes instead. Yes, it's pretty hard to hack anyway, but a little effort will certainly pay off.

haha yep, i got annoyed with my music so i replaced all the bits to the originals (then HM decided to stuff up my overworld scrolling ending song). I knew i was never a good musician it was good at first, then it gets annoying (the only 2 songs i'll leave in is probably the church and the ending which i'm still not annoyed at yet)

btw, i'd love to see the mirror working both ways (ie dark world -> light world when used in dark world, light world -> dark world when used in light world), i think this'll go into my hack too.

Make a bigger Overworld... I mean, use at least every parts of your overworld... cuz your first hack lack of places to visit.. secondly, make both worlds available (dark/light). Make the world maps this time, to be further more easy to know where we are and where we are going. Change the overworld layout... that's a + to your hack... Aside of all these overworld oriented works, make good dungeons using all of your skills available.. and finally.... test your hack or enter a beta/test phase before even releasing it!!

Already all take care of. Ill be posting some screen shots here soon. BTW, that previous hack was just a learning demo. This new one is completely new.

Edit: "btw, i'd love to see the mirror working both ways"

That would make overworld design EXTREMELY difficult. It would probably also allow for major sequence breaking, and would require tons of testing. It would be awesome if it could work, but i just dont have the time.

Hey, it worked in LOZ:Oracle of Ages with the harp going back and forth between past and present (Well, not until very far into the game) Im sure with a little creativity and time, you could make it work...

The mirror both ways sounds great, I know it was made possible on zelda classic and oracle of ages, the harp and all. That would be sweet if omega could figure it out. I think I'm gonna try and look into it.

Im definitely willing to do this if someone can help me get it working in the rom. I wouldnt know how to do it.

If someone knows how, please let me know... even though it would mean I have to redo tons of work... it would end up really well though.

Well most zelda games don't have sequence breaking, it's a feature which only existed in zelda 1 for the overworld (and that isn't really sequence breaking, cuz you have to get to a few dungeons to find the items first).

But if you're looking for an unique hack sequence breaking would be a good choice to do here.

Yah, Euclid, do u have experience doing asm hacks? cause i need help getting started. Ive learned programming languages like C++, VB, and flash coding, but only flash in detail. I wouldnt know where to start, and since me and dudeman have come up with some great ideas, i want to at least try and implement some.

thx.

If you know c++ it can help you learn asm, cuz asm is a different thing compare to c++.

a good idea is to look at nesdev (nesdev.parodius.org, i might have spelt it wrong ), and learn nes asm, cuz snes asm is the same as nes asm with a few mods.

problem with trying to implement asm things now is that snes doesn't have debugger, unless you can get the dos version of zsnes working.
you can give the tracer a try, it traces all the instruction, if you know what you're doing that is.

I can get the dos version working no problem, but, are there any tutorials or something that would help get me started? cause we have literally just come up with like 10 new things that can only happen through asm. I think they would be pretty easy to do though once I learned the language.

Isnt there a decompiler or something that someone has made?

disassemblers are everywhere, in fact, you can find some at zophar.net, they can help, but they are sometimes annoying to use (you got like 10000000 pages of asm to look at, and not all of them are asm)

you can't learn asm like how ppl can learn c/c++ in a few days/weeks (okay maybe months)

it may seem boring but look around, zophar.net, nesdev, learn as much as you can from those docs, can't really help you there.

I've heard learning about GameGenies/GameShark is a good place to start for asm, but i didn't start there so i wouldn't know.

I'm not good at asm yet, i can't pull out fancy mods on games.

Redesign the enemies so they aren't the same as LttP's.

THAT is going to take alot of work if you mean enemy AI wise.

Just do a bit of GFX changing on teh enemies. That will be good enough.

I was considering that. Ill have to see how good at ASM i get by the time i am nearing completion. I would love to create some new enemies (even if its only 1 or 2) . I believe that it would most likely be too difficult though. Well just have to wait and see.

LttP's Link was made to be what he is. He just doesn't look as good with any other palette. If anything, you could change his hair to a subtle yellowish-brown.

Here's the RGB for it:
Red: 194
Blue: 121
Green: 61

Thx guys, that brown hair looks good, but in my mind, the superficial stuff like pallete editing must wait till the end. For now, im really conventrating on overworld design, and ASM hacking.

Keep in mind though, i check this thread constantly for new suggestions, and if someone wants to do pallete, or GFX editing, and it looks good, ill probably put it in.

Edit: im going to montreal on a holiday in the morning, so ill be gone for 2 weeks. Ill expect to see some excelent ideas when I get back.

no we want original everything must change, and perfection will b acomplished by that, well heres my link pallette, in action it looks great and different nough for a new guest , i do agree though even if little the enemies need changing even if its just coloration it at least something, well heres my stuff ill do waht i can to help with suggestions, one thing is unacceptable and that is the same link, itll just seem dumb, they never make the main character the same in sequels so why do it in a hack? no need, my two cents are added i wish teh best of luck with this hack man may your sky's be filled with rainbows and showering gold lol......dammit im so gay
save it and zoom in take a good look others have and have been surprised , minor yes but i just may have achieved perfection
