Well, now that my latest Zelda hack is well underway, I figured I should let u guys in on a few things.

As you have probably guessed, its called "Dark Prophecy". It is a completely new hack, and it is entirely new. I have used nothing from the origional so far (aside from GFX of course). I am working on it with Dudeman, and its comming along great.

Well, it has occured to me that the input of only 2 people would limit the possibilities of the game, so I have decided to create this thread. If anyone has any thoughs, suggestions, or just something they think would be cool to have in it, please post here. It doesnt matter how unlikely it may seem, i will take it under consideration.

I am at the point where things start to come together, so now is the time to come up with inovative ways for things to fit together.

Your input is appreciated.

Lol, u mean those blocks from Links Awakening? That would take far too long, and i never really liked them, but Ill consider it. I highly doubt its gonna happen though.

The more suggestions, the better the final product.

My guess is A Link To The Past for SNES since he said the thing about the gfx not being changed. Also, he's already worked on one SNES Zelda hack.

As for suggestions, I'm clueless... change the price of flippers?

Make one of the old wisemen in the game (No Zelda game lacks old wisemen) talk like that all the time. It'd be really funny.

And tell us a bit more of the premise of the hack (story at least) to see if we can come up with something appropriate to it.

Add a floating island! Flaoting Islands rule

And maybe, have the hack start in the Dark world and go to the Light World? (Of course, assuming that you use the whole Darkwroldlightworld concept...)

Ok, im hearing some stuff I like.

Floating Island.... gold.....

I considered having the hack start in dark world, but im not sure how that would work. Its still under consideration.

Heian-794- The bottle seller shall remain as is... just for you.

I cant really tell you too much about the story, cause most of it is either not finalized, or unfinished.

keep em comming.

BTW, This is a hack of Zelda 3 for those who havent figured it out yet.

Lets see, there are a few ideas for my hack which is not going to be used... i'll spill them out.

- get rid of the hearts you get from defeating bosses in a non-boss room
- change enemy AI, probably for ganon (well it's hard, i know)
- toughing up monsters (or instead you can reduce the power of your sword)

i think all of them requires some asm knowledge to find in the rom though

Not bad... although changing the AI would be one huge accomplishment, i highly doubt it will happen... unless I can get my bro to help me out on that one.

I have actually already dealt with the heart problem... it turned out quite well.. I stumbled upon it by accident though. .

The moster thing is a definite possibility, but i wonder how difficult it would be. Cause if its just a matter of changing a few #'s in the rom, it shouldnt be too hard.

Also, Euclid, how did you make it so that you cant open your hack in HM?

Well i've tried quite hard to do that heart problem, sure it works for light overworld but the crystal in dark world just refuses to drop down. (although i've NOPed a few ops)

As for the locky thing, it's not a big thing, it's just changing a few bytes in the rom without knowing the consequence of doing it.

Well, you do get hearts for the final boss's, but we (me and Dudeman) have been able to have a mini-boss without leaving a heart behind. It is used for side quests, and stuff like that.

I got to say though, I really like the floating Island idea though. Its going in for sure .

It may be fun, but writing down all the errors and helping you fix them is quite a task, especially since I do it without your help. I play through the entire game cheat free so yea I can see why you appreciate it. I treat your game like a present lol.

I hope I'm not too late for this one, but I have several of suggestions.

-If you're going to hack Link's palette, make sure the result is sensible. Nothing like a dark blue tunic with yellow for the brighter shade, for example.

-If you're going to hack the music, make sure the result isn't painful to listen to. I thought Euclid's tunes were pretty grating after the first repeat, especially since they're just the original songs but with chimes instead. Yes, it's pretty hard to hack anyway, but a little effort will certainly pay off.

-The Bomb Shop elephant guy should be in this game somewhere. Maybe not even working the Bomb Shop, but he just has to be in the game. Has to. Period. =P

-Give out the Blue Mail a lot sooner than LttP did. Like, say, on the way to Agahnim after retrieving the Master Sword, or maybe even by having it sold in a shop like Zelda 1. That way it has a much better chance at being useful, unlike in LttP where just 3 levels later it was replaced.

-Tingle shall never appear unless he is dying or dead.

-Have the guy that runs away in Kakariko give an extremely useful tip for catching him, rather than say something everyone knows by that time.

All things that *I* would do, mind you, if I were going to make a hack. At any rate, I hope it gives you some ideas.

Those are some excellent suggestions, and no, your definitly not too late. Its just starting to come together now, so u have plenty of time to post more ideas.

Now, lets see,

-If you're going to hack Link's palette, make sure the result is sensible. Nothing like a dark blue tunic with yellow for the brighter shade, for example.

Palette hacking is the last think im going to do since its so easy, and it doesnt take much time to get it looking relativly good. Dont worry though. I intend for it to look good and origional.

-The Bomb Shop elephant guy should be in this game somewhere. Maybe not even working the Bomb Shop, but he just has to be in the game. Has to. Period. =P

Lol, not to worry, ive got something good planned for him.

The dungeons are all of relative difficulty, so, there will most likely be an armor upgrade quite early in the game.

-Tingle shall never appear unless he is dying or dead.

LMAO, it never even occured to me to have Tingle in it.... Ohhh, this opens up many possibilities.

-Have the guy that runs away in Kakariko give an extremely useful tip for catching him, rather than say something everyone knows by that time.

Definitely

-If you're going to hack the music, make sure the result isn't painful to listen to. I thought Euclid's tunes were pretty grating after the first repeat, especially since they're just the original songs but with chimes instead. Yes, it's pretty hard to hack anyway, but a little effort will certainly pay off.

Im not so sure about the music yet. It would be a mammoth task to remake music for the whole game. I may just do a couple songs. First I need to figure out how to use the music editor well.

Thx for ur suggestions. So far, these are probably the best and most feasable I have seen.

Make a bigger Overworld... I mean, use at least every parts of your overworld... cuz your first hack lack of places to visit.. secondly, make both worlds available (dark/light). Make the world maps this time, to be further more easy to know where we are and where we are going. Change the overworld layout... that's a + to your hack... Aside of all these overworld oriented works, make good dungeons using all of your skills available.. and finally.... test your hack or enter a beta/test phase before even releasing it!!

For exemple, here's the layout I used to make my overworld:

Try to be creative and you will come up with something good...
