I was so happy that I had done a layout and learnt some transparent work. But I put the layout in right and when I go to post where the black is its supposed to be transparent, but its not working. If you have a look in my profile you can see what its supposed to look like... could someone please please help me out

I believe that's because of your "allowtransparency" line. Unfortunately, I think that's one of the things that Ace doesn't have allowed, alongside of text glow.

Best you can do in that case would be to put that specific spot in the art a bit darker and have the DIV over it. It would make it a scrolling layout though, and I believe that chroma still doesn't work.

I'm not sure...but you might be able to override this if you have CSS placed outside of the board, the code on a remote server. I'm not exactly sure, it's something I overheard from Jizzy a while back.

Oh my, well I might actually take the layout away and start from scratch again. Do you know why Ace doesn't have them aloud, cause the layout I have (once it works) looks really nice? Thanks for your help Ranko

I think he took out filters out after there was an overuse of glow text way back before I was even on the original board. They just got tired of it.

I think the only filter that MAY work is the alpha/opacity filter.

Ok well say I was going to create just a plain box and a picy on the side, like yours, can I maybe add a scroll bar still?

Scroll bar should still work. I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't be able to make a transparent schoolbar (with CHROMA effect) unless you did outside CSS linking.

Course, there are people that bitch about scrolling layouts...we've had that for a while since not everyone uses IE.

Allowtransperancy only works in IE, it is not advised to use. It slows down the viewer alot, especially on large areas. But I do believe it works on the board.
Your own colored scrollbars only work in IE and if you have chroma on them (as in, making something of the scrollbar invisible, thus being able to make a scrollbar with just the arrows for example) it will look like shite for people with cleartype on their setup (which I believe Ace has).
You can always do everything with css in your profile, you never have to use a host to store the css file to do something extra, everything is still available in your profile. However it is more convenient to use a host for the css.

General info. Too tired to actually help with anything.

Did you check her code and then what it looked like in IE? It was very lacking and the transparency wasn't there.

Doesn't matter...looks like she modified my own layout for her own use.

I did modify your layout for my own use, basically changed the colors and picture. I was going to keep it but whenever I posted after you it stuffed up your own posts... like my picture would have replaced yours and also some of the quote box colors.

I had a friend make this one for me and the scroll bar works and everything

It's because you didn't change the class names. It overrides the previous post if you do so. If you still have the .halves class name and .textbox laying in there...you would need to modify that. Otherwise you have a ton of people attempting to have the same layout.

But hey, that one works too.

your scrollbar isn't sized and placed correctly in firefox and IE, you may want to fix that, or let your friend finetune it if you're not confident enough in your own skills.
And perhaps change the bg color of your textbox, because the black with white font doesn't look so nice with the pic.

Well at the moment, I am looking at a new layout that I will be working on. Unfortunatly I can't get my friend to fix the problem cause he is on holidays and I wouldn't have a clue what to fix anyways... hang on... whats Firefox?

Firefox would be an alternative web browser to Microsoft Internet Explorer. Heck, there are plenty of them...that's why I said earlier that there are people that don't like scrollbar layouts...since they screw up in every other browser other than IE...

they don't screw up if you know what to do. but I don't think any other browser than IE allows you to manipulate the scrollbar colors and/or visibility.

Their are people who like them and their are people who hate them, no-one is the same... wasn't their a battle about this a while back?

... anyways I am working on another layout like I said that will not have scroll-bars. Their is going to be a picture on the right hand side... does it matter what the height of the image is?

yes and no.
if you want the entire picture to show in each post you make, it's best to keep it below 400 pixels in heigth, 300 would be better though.
keep the filesize as low as possible aswell, because if you have a layout that takes ages to load, it'll probably be removed <<;
if you have an image that is bigger in heigth, you can set it to show a minimum part of the pic (when you make a small post), and every line you type over this minimum heigth will show more of your picture. I hope that made some sense

They don't allow remote linking (and that's probably why it won't show up), find a host that does <<;
