I hope I am not interupting anything by asking if someone here could code me a layout. I don't have much skill at all in HTML anymore, but I have the design allready done and from what I remember and have seen it shouldn't be too hard. It also isn't one which is just a box on the left with the post in it and an image of a catgirl or furrie on the right so it should be interesting and stick out.

Would it be possible to choose between your HTML, CSS, and BBCode? Very sloppy...you've got a DIV defined for your background but you haven't classed it with anything.

In that case you should just do something like <td background=Whatever URL here> in your header, get rid of the DIV definition, and put whatever inbetween your header and sig and then finish off your signature with </td>.

Also, take those damned <br>s out of your layout. They're useless.

perhaps you should make a semi-transparent field where the text is gonna be displayed. (or just change the text colour)

Link 2004, thats a great Ocarina of Time pic, but perhaps you could redo your layout. Right now its pretty gross, sorry. The text is hard to read. But you can make it better.

Okay, I am almost done my layout, but as you may or may not see, it doesn't show up perfectly in IE, not only does the PNG not show transparencies, some of the table also messes up. I worked the guy who coded this enough and he doesn't know how to fix this problem, so anyone here know how? Despite the brows happy thing I want it to look good in both browsers. Also is there any way to make a different bg show up in IE(a single colour one to match the light blue that shows up on the PNGs)? I think Jesper did something simular to make a pic appear if someone used IE, due to a flaw.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and it doesn't stretch horizontally, what should I do, I don't think I can make it go longer due to the way it is on the top, otherwise it probably would of allready been done probably, but this isn't meant to be a scrollbar layout... Though I will if I have to, I need to keep the box look.

It seems you want your font color to be black, so type this string (without the periods) into the header of the Edit Layout Page: <.font color="black">. At the end of your signature, on the same page, type <./font>, once again, without the periods (those are just there so the board doesn't interpret them as actual HTML tags, as if it did, they wouldn't show in my post.

Those two lines will make every character in between them black, which in this case would consist of your post and your signature.

Give that a try, and see how it works

Glad to see you got that working I hope you're planning to use a light background, as black text on a dark background won't look too good

Anyways, post away, and we'll see what we can do

Now I need to work on this!!!! Agh! This is supposed to be one row of Master Mario's on top, and one row of Master Mario's on the bottom, and my text should be centered in the white area between the two as opposed to going right through my characters. I can't explain it so I had to show you this poor eyesore. If you can help, I'd be grateful. lol.

Highlight the text to hear my plight!!!

I'd suggest this: make a copy of the image, and change it so that there's only one row of Marios, so it would look something like this. Make one link to that picture in your post header, and another one down in your signature. That way the pictures will be surrounding your text like you want it. The only problem with that method is that you'll have to make the width of the picture I'm pretty sure there's another way to do that, but that idea is the first one that popped into my mind. Hopefully it works

Edit: Once you've got the image ready, put this bit of code in both your header and signature:

<.div style="background:url(http://www.freewebs.com/karadur/onerowmarios.PNG); height: 35px;"><./div>

...to make it appear. Hopefully you'll know to remove the periods at the beginnings of the tags by now Note that you'll have to change the URL of the picture to point to wherever you've uploaded it, as I plan on removing that picture from my FreeWebs account after you get your layout working.

I realize that it's pretty pointless to have the div tag then close it immediately after the beginning tag, but it's the only way I know of right now to get the image to show up, and display more or less width-wise depending on the user's resolution / window size.

Edit 2: Forgot another thing It looks like you want the text to appear on a white background, so after the div tag for the image in your header, type <.div style="background: white;">, and before the image tag in your signature, type the closing div tag: <./div>. Remember to remove the periods.

Say, how can I make stuff in <code> tags scroll? I've got this so far:

.hh_post code, pre {
display: block;
border: 1px dashed #FFFFD0;
background-color: #015F8D;
width: 90%;
margin: 0 auto;
white-space: pre;
}

.hh_post code br, pre br {
display: none;
}

As you can see it works, but if I post something really long in a code tag it stretches the page (even with spaces). How can I get it to use a scrollbar instead?

Well, here's the reason, courtesy of W3:

white-space: pre
This value prevents user agents from collapsing sequences of whitespace. Lines are only broken at newlines in the source, or at occurrences of "\A" in generated content.

You're looking for 'normal'

That's how I want it to be, though. Just instead of extending the table to fit it, stick it in a little scrolling box. Like Notepad without Word Wrap on; the window doesn't stretch to fit, it just scrolls.

Umm, since I can't seem to find it ANYWHERE, how do you put stats in your post? I've tried viewing sources of pages but that doesn't help. Also...

I'm sorry for the double-post but I need it to show my layout. As you can see, this is what happens. Since I made this post before I had my layout up, the background image won't show but it's there in a normal post.

This is what should happen (sans colour loss).

You can see what it DOES look like here in my post.

If the stats you want in your post are ones related to the board, like the number of days you've been registered, or how many posts you have to get to a new rank or level, check this part of the FAQ. Things should be pretty much self-explanatory after that

As for the problem you have with the background in your layout, the only thing I could suggest is to take an extra careful look at the code you're using to put a background in the post text table Having a small mistake somewhere in it is about the only thing I can think of right now that would cause it not to show.
