What the crap are you two talking about? And if by assistant you mean permission (only thing that makes sense), no one needs your permission. If that's not what you meant, then ... eh?

It's just the problem that the Board deletes a carrige return on the first line in the layout if you edit it. And when that happens with my layout, the word 'KawaiiImoto-e' overlaps the Edit, Quote, and other buttons.

And I don't mean Permission, I mean assistants.

Eh, how does assistants fit in that sentence anyway?

Have you tried using Relative positioning instead? Or maybe just split up the two phrases into different div tags and make one overlap. Right now it seems like a tag soup. Especially with the 'warning' at the top of the layout

And HyperHacker, i think there is something wrong with your layout...The border images arent like...connecting..And the images arent in good condition..

How come the image

Only shows as the background on previews or when you look at my profile? Does it have to do with the fact that it's a jpeg?

Shows up fine to me... but maybe its because its geocities and you have to change the extention to .txt, I don't know why people use it, actually.

I think I fixed the border. The images are crappy quality for file size reasons. (Unless you want me to use half a meg of images for a layout. )

Alright, I need some HTML help, it's not layout-related but I figured this would be the best place to ask. (It's similar, just not going in a layout. ) I have a table, and in one cell, in every row, I want to have an image. The idea is that the image is 200 pixels wide, and I want to cut off a given amount from the right side - same idea as setting the width to say 150, but I don't want it scaled, I want 50 pixels completely cut off from the right. I can do this by setting the width of the cell, but then the entire column stretches to the width of the biggest one, and the images end up being all the same size, which is not good!

Here's an attempt at an ASCII example:

Text[||||||||||]
Text[|||||||]...


Where the dots are should be blank, and the [||||] is the image (both the same pic).

Also I don't really care about how it would look in any browser other than Mozilla, etc, because I'm the only one that's actually going to see it.

Yeah, this method is pretty crude, you may be able to find a better one. This is all I can come up with though. Also, I hope the cells have a background color and not a background image, because that would complicate this method.

Ok, so first, I'll show you my example using some nice dinosaurs Take a look at this lovely guy:

Now, I cut him and his colorful friends, 50 pixels from the right in each of these cells.


Hopefully you have a background color for your table and not an image. I chose black. Then, decide how much you want cut off from the right side of the image. You want 50 pixels. So, make an image 50 pixels wide, and whatever height you want, 1 pixel maybe.
Ok so in your cell you have your image that you want to display (in this case the dino). After inserting your dino, insert your 50 pixel wide image. Use this style:

img {margin-left: -50; height: 100%}

What this will do is overlap your image 50 pixels with the negative margin. Also, it will fill the cell height-wise with the height: 100%.

Also keep in mind that images immediately after one another should be immediately after one another in the html, as well. Like:

<img src=dino.gif><img src=black-cut-off.gif>
^ That will work.

<img src=dino.gif>
<img src=black-cut-off.gif>
^ That will not work at all with what we are trying to do!

Awesome, thanks! I do use a BG image but I can change that for the bar cells.

[edit] Quick CSS question. How can I make <hr> act like <br>? Suppose something like this:
Hey, this<hr>is text!
If I set it to display: none, it leaves absolutely no space between them ("Hey, thisis text!"). If I set it to visibility: hidden, it leaves a huge gap, like:
Hey, this


is text!
I want the second part to be directly under the first, like this:
Hey, this
is text!

Is there some way to do that? (I'm using a span tag with a class, modifying the tag itself is not really an option.)

Also, what's the best way to include a CSS file in a layout and how do I do it?
A different sort of question... Is it possible to specify two CSS files, that if one isn't found it loads the second one instead? It could be used for a very awesome idea I just had.
