CMED v0.xx - Get it!

CMED homepage

CMEDLEIT
Go have fun and tell me if it works. =)

Yes, even though the last thread was a complete fKitten Yiffer [thanks for the tips ] I've just completely ditched the idea of suggestions on the interface [I'll do it how I please, and remember, if you hate it you had the chance [2days +] ]... and rewrote it to include SUBs instead of throwing everything together in a messy pile of crap.

Remember how the old one looked?
Yes, I hate it too.
Not pretty at all. Everything was thrown into one giant mess. And if it gave you an error chances are you'd never know, since it'd probably just crash. Whoops.

I've rewritten that, too.
Not bad for ASCII art.
Pretty, isn't it? Considering I can use 16 foreground colors and 8 BG colors with ASCII characters only, yes, it is.

If you're looking for an actual editor in this thread at the moment, it's MIA. I'm having a few problems compiling the dumb thing [Subscript out of range my ass] but once I get it back to where it was before [able to edit crap] I'll have it right up. Give me an hour tops.

Er... okay, two.

And there's something else [when I finish with this version anyway] you'll notice -- +50 mode. Since the +50 levels are just repeats of the old ones but with new crap [time, requirements, etc etc etc] it'll have those loaded and display the layout reversed.

I wonder how many people are going to say [when you can edit levels, cough cough] "Why doez editing 51 change 1?!?!" -- that'd be why. They're the same.

There's also a bit more data I have to collect [how the monsters work in terms of placement and number] but that should come easy.

Although, there's just one thing... Can your monitors out there view 50lines as opposed to the 25 I'm using now? Seeing as how levels are 60x11chr and a screen is 80x25chr... that doesn't fit at all, since 24 and 25 scroll the page and that's bad.

Frustrating... then again if not you can probably just run it in Windowed mode.
Oookay, so there it is... juging from the shots does this look like it completely sucks or does it hold promise?

And please, suggestions are always welcome if they're not on the interface XD

[God I hope I get a post in here. Posting updates is a bitch if you can't post, you know ]

Thank you, Colleen.

Now, evidently.

Get it!!
Giant size helps to make download links noticable, you know.

Don't ask when the level will actually be editable-- I've had enough problems getting the stupid header saved right [dumb pos].

Of course, writing the interface will be more of a pain

More shots.

What a shameless plug. Shameless!
A sample of a level I made in WORDPAD [yes, I did].

Mabye in a hack I`ll mkae I'll use diffrent logos for it [this being the v0.xx one]

And yes, it's playable.

For the level editing interface [beta work named "CMED LEIT" [GUESS THE ACRONYM AND GET A PRIZE]] there's this:

Yes, the XX really does blink.
Keep in mind that this is totally seperate from the CMED program right now [Don't have the source at the moment] but you can help me out by running this program and telling me if it works fine on your computer.

Don't be suprised if you get diffrent verisons: I'm updating it every now and then.

Next up will be allowing keystroeks to edit the map... wait for it...

CMEDLEIT
Go have fun and tell me if it works. =)

No, really, send me money.

This would be me playing around with the LEITer again. So far it's, uh, -almost- operable. I think I'm going to just run a setup at the beginning and ask for keys for the 20 or so tiles and assign them to keys or whatnot.

And in case you haven't figured it out, the [XX] is the cursor until further notice.

Right now it takes the ASCII of the character you push [a for instance] and puts out that as an object.

Of course, in the beginning there was not this and therefore it sucked and it reads the last digit [42 -> 2 for example] and puts that.

Just another thing to work on, I guess.

Any comments on how it's turning out?

With the seeming lack of people it's getting kind of annoying working on it if there's no one who will use it...

Don't you think that's a bit... drawn out?

Couldn't you just live with "CMEDIT"?

CMEDLEIT crashes on load for me...

"File not found in module INTRFACE at address 0DD1:00D7"

It might have something to do with XP.

Actually it has nothing to do with that. It's merely the fact that the file that wasn't found was "cmobj2.dat", which is in the main ZIP.

Had you run CMED without it, it would've given you a nice error in the form "Could not find file. Check to make sure you have [cmobj2.dat / levels2.dat] and try again".

I was too lazy to put in any sort of lame error-handling thing since I never got errors, and besides, this version sucks. Once I figure out the real deal [just you wait ] ... yeah.

Thing is for the start I'm going to have to create this file by hand in notepad or something, because... argh... yeah. ;

Oh well... if you want the file anyway so you can play around and make levels that won't be saved go ahead.

...

On second thought, I should do that. Have it save whatever you do to L1 for no reason if you push F1 or something.

Oy, I'm drowning myself in ideas... ack.

And Kefka, that's just the intrface.exe title. The MAIN program is CMED.
