I may just be imagening things but did i see someone on this board volenteering to make some custom blocks or objects.... Also, if someone were to make me a block, how would I get it into my game? Would I send them the .ips or would they send me code? (in case you can't tell I still have a bit to learn about Lunar Magic.) |

I think you may have to use decimal numbers for the block numbers instead of hexidecimal.

I don't know how much you know or not but yes, Jonwil made a Block Editor with blocks that are quite easy to put in your hack. Okay, first thing to do is to make some ExGFX, which, let me tell you, is one of the most complex things in all of hacking- or so it seems, at first. Later, it'll be easy as pie. OK, first you need to open your hack in Lunar Magic. Go to "Options" and make sure the "Joined GFX files" is checked OFF. Then click on the red mushroom on the toolbar. In the folder where your hack and Lunar Magic are (at least this happened for me) should be a folder that says "Graphics". Go into there, and copy and paste one of the files into a folder you make called "Extended Graphics" or something along the sort. Rename it "ExGFX80" if this is your first ExGFX file, and then use a good program like YY-CHR to edit it. (If you need help in YY-CHR, let me know). Okay, then, once you have your ExGFX, go back to Lunar Magic and click the Yellow Mushroom. Go to Level --> Old GFX bypass --> Bypass standard FG/BG GFX list. Usually, you need to change "FG3" to get good results without messing up a great deal of a level. Open to the Map16 and 8x8 editors. In the Map16, go down to one of the blank pages and click on one of the four-tiled..um..tiles. Flip through the 8x8 until you find your ExGFX, and then, in the Map16, change the numbers of the blue tiles to the numbers of your ExGFX. Press F9 to save it, and then you can put that block in your hack. (In case you're wondering, 130 for the "gameplay properties of the 16 by 16 tiles" makes it completely solid, and D2 makes you walk through it.) Alright, open Block Editor next. Open your hack's file in Block Editor and go to "Add Block". Choose the block out of the effects in the list, and then open up your calculator in the "Accessories" program in the Start menu (at least that's it for Windows, I dunno about Macs. May be the same.) In Lunar Magic, check to see what 16x16 tile your ExGFX block is. Enter that number in the "Scentific" section of your calculator, and switch from decimal to hex. Enter that number in the Block Editor 'Add Block' thing, and press 'OK' or whatever it is. Next time you open Lunar Magic, that block should have the effect. If that was too much information, sorry. |

I think he wants to know how to make his OWN objects and blocks as well. Not just inserting pre-made blocks.

That reminds me of my project (which I started, but only completed to 0,5%), SMWEASM, Super Mario World Easy ASM. A simple programming language that allowed the user to make his/her own blocks... Maybe I should restart it... Hmm...
