Hi guys, I'm looking forward to helping again, I'm going to remake the castle a bit for the original demo released by omega so it doesn't turn people off so quick.

Message for Neonswift: i would be very happy to beta test for you, you see I jsut want 1 zelda 3 game that I never have played before in it's entirety, that is quest for calatia, simply because it's two years into the making and should be released after it's thrid, spoilers don't bother me for these type of game.s so if you want me to beta test, I'll do my best, ask Omega, we elminated 100's of bugs, the rest were because we were really getting tired and had to release to get an idea from the public. Get back to me please, thx.

As of right now i dont really need anybody to beta test. And I plan to let both Solid-tbone and Dark_X have a test when the time comes. But ill definately keep you in mind for a third tester.

Anyways, about releasing just ur light world, I wouldnt want you to release anything unfinished, especially if your game allows going back and forth between light and dark world. Im still debating wether or not I will allow it in my new hack, just cause its so much extra work. I think I may just allow it in certain circumstances through portals.
Removing one of the areas you start in is actually a good thing. Due to the constraints of not being able to enlarge the rom Im only working on a light world map which frees up loads of space and also plenty of sprites.

Neonswift, could you help me, i am still a rookie at this but id like to get better.

How do I insert a door without it flying around to any position in the room? i want it specifically over another door, well in place of another door.

Interesting... I've beat the undergound passage with the boss. I'll finish playing it this afternoon and tell you what I think (and any bugs I find ).

Once youve placed down the door you can press the number pad arrows keys (4,8,6,2) to move the door where you want in a room. A lot of the basics are explained in the help file which for some reason seems to be overlooked by lots of people.

The items are glitchy, so just hope that you have gotten all the items you need in before it goes glitchy like that. If you need any help, just talk to me on AIM.

Also, headers are the worst. If you want to free up header space, you have to go to another area and delete some headers, But the worst part is that if you dont have any free header space, you cant free any. I know, not very smart, but thats how it works. If you never bothered to change the headers, then it wont matter.

I know why youve only done 3% monologue Euclid...its because theres a crazy shit amount of it. Plus as ive done before you can completely screw up a story if you make a character say too much too early. You need to show more screenshots Euclid. WHat ive seen so far looks excellent. My own website was really less to do with releasing Zelda stuff (which is what the forums are for) but more of just a testing ground for my html, CSS and flash skills.

You should try it. You pick up loads if you focus a web on something that your in the process of working on.

maybe i should, but then, time is something which is against me here, i know some really basic (what i mean basic, as in only know how to do links and pics) html

there's nothing wrong with keeping the surprise until i'm 90% completed (then i can have some solid screenshots, not these beta ones which can change anytime)

As for the psycho items, hex editor is also your friend there.

actually... now that i've figured out how to lock the rom (it may have side-effects) i might release the hack from start -> dark world. (with no monologue changed)

Yah, locking the rom would be very useful. Also, if you are interested in making a website Elucid, download Netscape Composer. It comes with the newest version of netscape and it works just like microsoft word. Real easy to use.

There, released demo of the light world.

you don't know what's hex?

Well hex is just a way to represent numbers, with a base of 16, hex uses A-F to represent 10-15 respectively.

hex editor is just a way to edit those number

Awesome, thx!

BTW, what made you release? I thought you were planning on waiting till you were finished.

Ah well, I have no choice but to play it. I have absolutely no will power.

Update:

Well I traced that glitched area and sure enough the Chris Houlihan room came up again. From the (ASM) trace I got to confirm what I had suspected since last year, that the game changes to a specialmode before entering the Chris Houlihan room. If you don't know what I'm talking about don't worry about it.

I'm going to spend some more time seeing whether there are other ways of triggering/ controlling the process...

It's not so much for gameplay hacking but for the purpose of answering some questions about the Chris Houlihan room. No one knows at this point exactly how it is triggered by non error events (i.e. the way most people get to see it) it would be a nice piece of trivia to figure out how.

On the other hand, it might also give some insight into creating debugging routines, which is what the Chris Houlihan room is. (bad room data and such will cause it to trigger)

Hmm, thats cool, so, its more of a matter of figureing out how it works and why than figuring it out to solve problems in HM.

BTW, how do you trace errors?

son of a...

My comp has some serious registry issues so I can't work on this at the moment.

Edit: Whew glad I fixed that or I would have lost lots of work.
