Ok, here it is, my first hack ever. I realize that there are similaritied between this and the origional, but this was only meant to be a learning demo. Somehow it turned into something alot bigger. I spent a lot of time on this, and I have left it off where I could continue if I want to, so I may create a continuation of this later. Anyways, im gonna create a website later, and I'll post it here as well.

http://jupiter.walagata.com/w/omega45889/Zelda3-_Omega.zip
DOWNLOAD LINK

A couple of things you should know.

1) You do not recieve your sword from links uncle, u recieve it from a wounded soldier. It may confuse some people about the story.
2) I did not create any maps, so they are useless, except for the thrid dungeon.
3) Lots of text has been changed, so talk to people, and hunt around.
4) There are a total of 10 hearts before Agahnims castle.
5) There is an error where doors will appear. This could not be helped. It will be corrected in a later release.

Hope you enjoy it. Please leave feedback and suggestions here. Also, I am still hunting for a name. Leave any suggestions here. THX.

My E-Mail is Omega45889@hotmail.com

Edit: Sry, u got to re-download it, there was a small bug in the first dungeon.

Just started playing your hack. Just from the opening sequence, I'd suggest a title of "Legend of Zelda - The Last Maiden" or "Zelda - The Last Princess", perhaps?

For starters...

The name select screen glitches for me using Snes9x v1.42 during the part where you enter your name.
I just pressed a bunch of random buttons and came up with GGGG. After that, the screen looked fine.

Hmm, when you talk to the guard who gives you your sword, I think the text scrolls too fast and you miss a line or two. Either that, or I pressed the button twice on accident.

In front of the sealed door where Agahnim is, there appears to be two invisible "blocks". on the left and the right. What's up with that?

Weird sound glitch in this room here. It's in the underground area before you enter the sanctuary with Zelda. You enter the room, and you get that famous Zelda tune that you get when finding a secret passage/item. Then, it sounds like a bunch of scurrying is going on. When you get to the top of the room, it seems to just stop.

Ok, I just went to the room right above it. That would explain the sound. But man, that was just mean putting him there. I was able to beat him but I had one heart left.

Hmm, something about the overworld music seems a bit off. It sounds as if some other small tune is playing in the background. Oh, and one of those cave doors (half of one anyway) appeared right below where the witch was at. I went off screen, came back, and it was gone.

I noticed that you changed the race thing for the heart piece a bit. For one, the sign that says "If you can read this, you're almost there" or something like that is gone. That, and you can't cheat and jump over the fence. Was that your intention?

And that's about where I stopped. I'll test it some more later on.

MUAHAHAHAHA! Okay, I played through the whole fucking castle sequence and didn't notice a single difference. Why? Because I'd made a typo in renaming the IPS file and it wasn't the same name as the ROM!!!!! Okay, NOW I'm starting to play your mod :-)

So, anyway, my title suggestions came from the opening text of Zelda III, not your hack :-)

First, the name entering screen is totally messed up. I hit random buttons in order to get it to advance (and came up with the name "aa").

So far, the overworld is just a bit different, but the castle is 99% the same (cept for colors) and the general "plot" is still the same (go to the castle, rescue the princess, escape through the sewers, etc.)

There is a glitch in the upper left hand corner of Kakakiro village. Just left of the "8" stones at the left of the building on the hill are the tiles for the bottom of the door to that building - just kind of sitting there. Sorry, is this the "door" glitch you were talking about, or is this something different? Anyway, when I went back there later, that glitch wasn't there anymore (though I still think the roof of that building looks awfully strange - lots o weird tiles that weren't meant to go next to each other.

The little crab-like monster hidden under a bush in the area just to the east of Kakakiro village has a graphical glitch on it - when facing/moving certain directions, parts of its body are missing (usually one of the claws). I'm talking about the one near the treasure field.

Upon buying the 30 bombs for 100 ruppees from the elephant man in Kakiro village, he says Thank you very much twice in a row. Oh yeah, but apparently I can only carry 10 or something, so he ripped me off - was that intended?

The always-moving spike block in the first room of the cave to the west of Kakiro village didn't move unless I was on the screen. I mean, it was moving at first, then I moved to the right of the room and it went left and never came back to the right until I moved left and brough it back into the screen.

The chest that appears when you kill the floating skull enemy in the second room of that cave is unopenable. Is this on purpose? I'm betting the key to the door is in it, and so I can't continue in that cave because the chest doesn't open...

The first time I was in the screen with the witch's hut, there was nothign wrong, but when I went back, I got the same little graphical glitch mentioned above about the Kakiro village building and mentioned by um... whoever posted before mabout the same glitch. I leave and go back, and it's gone again.

I seem to the only person who has a ROM that doesnt cause the save select screen to screw up when you patch Z3.

Woah the big bad in the sewers scared me but the door above him was open already?! not sure if thats how it was meant to be. I just walked by him.

Some very excellent use of pallette editing. I liked the themes on the most part. I think however some work needs to be done on links clothes.

Youve got some interesting use of entrances and exits which seem to give you access to completely new areas of the map.

Oh and the door that appears below the witches hut is due to the location of your potion shop entrance. If you were to move the entrance (and the hut respectively) down where the exit appears then that would fix the problem. Cant remember the other way around it other than hex but im sure there is one.

Nice game Omega. Kept me entertained longer than i thought it would. so good going.

What the? Ha, I didn't notice that. Well, the only thing you missed out on was a heart container.

Oh, I used Snes Tool to patch my rom. Whatever version Ace has on his site.

So yeah, I don't know what I can do or where I can go without getting into that unopenable chest in the western cave.

Anyway, the color changes were good and interesting without being ugly or distracting. I'm glad you changed some of the overworld a little bit.

Otherwise, don't know what to say because I don't know of a way to get through that western cave level without the key.

Hey guys, Omega did indeed create this game, I created parts of the overworld and beta tested and did work on the text. Yes, the game isn't spectacular but it is a good game. The western cave chest is messed, i realised it before, and omega is going to fix it and make the new version available via the link accessed before, i will infrom you when it's fixed or omega will, should be very soon. The spike block, we intended it to not move when you are on the far end of the screen, well not intended but we needed a long screen like that i guess. I can't figure out the music why it's alittle of, but just ignore it i guess. Omega worked real hard, I did too but he really busted his butt for this, so once the link's back up enjoy his great game, i certainly did gotta love beta testing advantages.

By the way, once it's ready, if anyone needs a tip or hint, just ask.

OK, a couple of things. Please read the post before downloading. I realize that the doors cant be fixed right now, so thats too bad. Also, the House in Kakariko is supposed to look wierd. It will make sense later. And for the room being open in the sewers, its supposed to be like that. When I made it closed, it would screw up, so u can go by, but u will just miss the heart which u will really need later, and not be able to go back.

As for the screwed up title screen, thats cause ur using the wrong version of the rom. Ill link u guys to it. Here: [Removed. ROM links are bad, mmkay?]

Also, please re-download the patch, or you wont be able to continue past the first room of the dungeon.

Edit: also, sry, the castle was supposed to be changed, but I was just tired, so I just changed the pallets. Thats all that has been unchanged though. The game gets much better as it goes on.

As for that link to the zelda3 rom Omega. Your not actually meant to supply that. Its breaking laws you know. Id re-edit and delete it. An admin/mod may do it anyway.

It shows that youve spent a lot of time on this OMega. Theres only a few people on the net who have been bothered with sticking with Hyrule Magic. I too know how hard it is to get things right. You can spend hours simply fine tuning a level/dungeon to make it work glitch/bug free.

perhaps he should leave it up so weasel will be able to finally get a working rom to go with my own IPS hack. It would also come in handy for Zelda: Omega...obviously.

Another thing its good to see someone has finally bothered to edit the death mountain areas. I never have gotten round to doing that yet. Mainly grassland, marshes and cave areas.

The game gets more different as it goes on, so please play it through. It is worth while.

Also, If an admin wants, go ahead and delete that link, I just figured taht everyone here would know the rules about it, and I could help them by showing them the version I used.

Also, any bugs you find, please post a screenshot. Thx.

I jumped off the side of the raised area in the first room of the second floor in the western cave (the one with two of those red monsters that just bounce off the walls, and with the switch hidden under the pot), and that gets me stuck in the wall. I had to blow myself up with bombs in order to restart the level.

But yes, you're right, after the castle, it gets much better. Good work.

Oh, and when I leave the screen with the witch's hut, the tiles for the roof change oddy as I leave. Perhaps this is an emulator error, though.

Okay, when you emerge from the cave in the first area with lots of water, and go left a screen, then go left once more, as you're going left that last time you pass THROUGH a tree to get to the other side, and when you go below the tree to go back right, you go through the tree/foliage/wahtever. If you go back right above the tree, you go THROUGH some rocks and end up on the cliffside.

Also, after you go left that last time, if you go down, you end up stuck on the roof of the palace.

Actually, this whole area is full of messed up tiles. I'm assuming you didn't intend for people to get to that screen? Of course, swimming to adjacent screens from here leads to all sort of odd areas...

Okay, back to the screen where you emerge from the cave in the first area of lots of water. Move right against the line of foliage where the bottom corner meets the vertical edge, and you'll be greeted with a bug. Keep holding right, and you'll be greeted with the most entertaining animation I've ever seen in a Zelda game :-)

You can do the same thing by holding right against the foliage on that screen where the vertical wall of foliage dips in a little bit, near the top. Only this time, when Link disappears into the next area, hold down or up for the fun animation.

In actuality, you can get that bug at about 6 different locations on that edge of that screen.

It's also quite irritating that if you go up on that screen, as far to the left or right as you can while still moving up a screen, you will be trapped in an endless loop of jumping into deep water.

Oh, and thank you for including the shooting gallery game. Otherwise, collecting 500 coins for the flippers would've taken forever.

Also, in the huge screen where you get the flippers, near the top at the far left, is a place where there is nothing blocking you from going left, but you cannot.

Also, I don't recall? Did Zoras in the original jump out and walk around?

Loved the bodiless guard in the forest dungeon...if it was intentional.

Is there any way to open the door in the third room north in the forest dungeon (the one with the bomb-throwing guard)? I killed all enemies and checked under all pots - nothing.

Also, I'm trapped. I get to the room with the laser eye and two cyclops, and it locks me in. However, I have no bow to shoot arrows, and I only 2 bombs, and I can't get back to Kakiro, so I can't get past that room, because there is nowhere to buy bombs in the forest and nowhere to get out. The only way I can think of is to go around killing guys endlessly until I get lucky and get bombs to kill the cyclops in that room.

There should be some way out of the forest once you go in.

Oh, I'm a moron. You can kill them with sword.

Oh, and when you come out of the cave below the race to the heart container (under the big rock), the rock replaces itself immediately as you come out, so Link kinda gets stuck and then shoved off the rock. The rock should probably stay off the cave at least until you leave the screen, right?
