Man! What's with me and the DS threads?

Okay, so this is probably going to be the biggest game of the year for the Nintendo DS, so I thought it'd be a good idea to make a thread for it where we can check up and post all of the latest known info about the game.

List of all the courses:

Retro Mode

Shell Cup
* Mario Circuit 1 (SNES)
* Moo Moo Farm (N64)
* Peach Circuit (GBA)
* Luigi Circuit (GCN)

Banana Cup
* Donut Plains 1 (SNES)
* Frappe Snowland (N64)
* Bowser Castle 2 (GBA)
* Baby Park (GCN)

Leaf Cup
* Koopa Beach 2 (SNES)
* Choco Mountain (N64)
* Luigi Circuit (GBA)
* Mushroom Bridge (GCN)

Lightning Cup
* Choco Island 2 (SNES)
* Banshee Boardwalk (N64)
* Sky Garden (GBA)
* Yoshi Circuit (GCN)

Nitro Mode

Mushroom Cup
* Figure-8 Circuit
* Yoshi Falls
* Cheep Cheep Beach
* Luigi's Mansion

Flower Cup
* Desert Hills
* Delfino Square
* Waluigi Pinball
* Shroom Ridge

Star Cup
* DK Pass
* Tick-Tock Clock
* Mario Circuit
* Airship Fortress

Special Cup
* Wario Stadium
* Peach Gardens
* Bowser Castle
* Rainbow Road

There are two confirmed secret characters for the game. Probably alot more to come!
Dry Bones
Waluigi

Screenshots you most probably havn't seen

There are quite a few .wmvs out there, but I can't seem to find them anymore.

There are unlockable karts, with some characters being able to use the same ones.
A Mission Mode type mode where you drive through rings or defeat a certain amount of enemies within the time limit which will be used to unlock goodies.
And not forgetting the obvious: Nintendo Wi-Fi. Where you can challenge anyone around the world!
There is a Battle Mode, but unfortunately, it won't use Nintendo Wi-Fi. It does include its own AI controlled opponents though!
I hope you've found this info entertaining and informative.

I wish I had a DS so I could play this. I love it on n64, but DS is going to be so much better.
One day, I shall have it.
The screenshots look great, I love the cars. Especially Peach.. a box on wheels!

I'm hoping this game will be a big system-seller for a lot of people. Like Nintendogs was. The more people with DSs, the better!
I personally can't wait for this game. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of icon I'm going to use to represent myself on there.

I don't mind if Battle Mode is not Wi-Fi because I have a lot of friends who have a DS and want this game too. We will be playing Battle Mode like crazy.

I just wish they didn't put in Baby Park, that's the worst stage out of the 4 they choose to put into this game. It's just a dull track that's 7 laps long. Maybe they could've put Bowser's Castle from (GCN), that track was cool.

I'm not surprised that Rainbow Road would be in this game. I just hope it's not as bad as MK: DD Rainbow Road.

I`M GONNA KILL THEM!

But I still look forward to this game. You only need one cart to play it with 4 friends but you get rid of loading times if all of you have it.

Unfortunately, I made no mistake with the Battle Mode not having Wi-Fi support.
I'm a little dissapointed with that myself. No one at all has a DS around here.
Ah well! This'll still be an awesome game!

BP isnt that bad. Sure, its only a giant O, but its a giant O that gets quickly filled with shells, people, and just random chaos. The only thing that really brings it down is time trial racing... because THEN it gets repetitive. Bowsers castle was definitely cooler though 8)

As for battle mode... Eh, they did one thing right and one thing wrong. AI comp players is AMAZING, but seriously, no WiFi? Wi no Fi Nintendo?

Anyways, cant wait...

Wait a minute. Shouldn't this go in the Mario forum?

Anyway, sounds pretty awesome. Call me crazy, but I actually like the lack of a WiFi battle mode, because those have been getting progressively worse with each passing game and so regular old versus will probably be the main draw anyway. This way I won't get dragged in to something unfun... Too often.

True, MKDD's battle mode sucked... MK64's was awesome though.

It doesn't even have every track either? I know I heard it would somewhere... Goddammit, why do they always do this?

Also, MKDD's Rainbow Road rocked.

I disagree with the awesomeness of MK64's battle mode. Sure, it was fun, but, it wasn't THAT good, and the tracks were in general way too big. Especially Big Donut - I mean, did ANYONE like that one?

Alastor: I'll move this. If you don't want it after all, move it back I guess

I am very excited about this game. I cannot wait. At all. This is on the top of my list of things to get...anyone have an idea of a Japanese release date? Oh and N64's battle mode was only worth it for block fort and double decker. The donut needed to die ._.;;

Well, 4-player on Block Fort I found very fun... but hten, none of us really bothered aiming our green shells. We just had to dodge them, and if someone tried hiding at the top, we'd hunt 'em down.

I can understand not having all the GCN tracks, and not all the SNES (since those were, in dumbed-down versions, in MKSC), but... why not all the N64 tracks? Hell, they even completely skipped all my favorites (Sherbet Land, Wario Stadium, Royal Raceway, Rainbow Road, Kalimari Desert, Koopa Troopa Beach)...

One of the downloadable movies showed Tick-Tock Clock in action. It looks pretty cool - With multiple floors and cogs 'n stuff moving around.

The best of the 7 movies that got released, was the Mission Mode one.
It showed Toad driving around on a DS, and he had to drive through 7 rings within the time limit. Now, I'm not sure if the stars (one to three) which you saw at the end of the challenge were for how well you went, or difficulty of the actual challenge. How awesome would it be if the stars were for how well you went!
Trying to get 3 stars in every challenge so you can unlock the final secret character!

Big Donut sucked, yeah, but the battles were still fun. Course you had to play against someone who didn't suck.

I always wanted to make a track based on like a school or mall or something. Not even the actual place itself (though that'd be pretty cool), just the same layout. Similarly, I noticed a lot of schools are laid out perfectly for levels in an FPS... course, you make an FPS level based on a school and you're as good as sued.

I didn´t think MKDD's battlemode was that bad but I liked MK64' better.

"Also, MKDD's Rainbow Road rocked."

ARE YOU FUCKING NUTS!? I keep falling of the track but I have gotten better at it, at least.

Tamarin: I enjoyed Block Fort too. I assume that you mean the one in MK64.

Considering theres only one block fort...yea oh and whoever made skyscraper needs to to die despite the level being funny as hell to ram people like Toad with say...Bowser, and watch them go flying into the hole in the middle

Dude. Block Fort and Skyscraper were all I ever played. Skyscraper was probably the best level there. (Block Fort, while fun, took waaaaay too long.) Double Deck was way too big for good matches to go on, and big donut was just bad.
