I must have mentioned this... a LOT now... but it doesn't seem to go anywhere. Would I need to suggest this to ||bass and Kasumi in person, perhaps??

I've suggested before that it might be good to have some kind of notifier about moved threads. What I would prefer would to be to just have a placeholder thread in the old forum that says MOVED TO (WHEREVER) and links to the thread at its new location. That way the thread creator knows where the thread went, and other people who participated in the thread know where it went also.

Another way might be to send an automatic PM to the thread creator when a thread is moved too, just so at least the thread creator knows that it's been moved, not deleted, and where the thread went to.

I just think it will cut down on confusion. I've thought I've lost threads before that I've created that have simply been moved....

even adding two fields -- oldforum and movetime -- would make this stupidly easy

if oldforum is the one you are veiwing, and movetime is less than, say, two days (so that forums aren't clogged with "thread moved" messages for too long) then show it as "Moved: pointless thread"

It's not that hard to fix.

Except ||bass doesn't give a shit, and nobody listens to the suggestions/bug reports anyway, so it will never happen. That's why I don't bother with suggestions anymore.

Great coders!

I think adding those would be helpful.. but overall just add more clutter to the forums. People should know that if they posted a thread in General, go back later and it's not there, that they should look at their threads page and see where it went. Either it was trashed, moved, or possibly deleted.. and there's a reason for all of the above options. We could try an announcement, or sticky maybe? If people know where to look, we won't need labels or placeholders like that.

Unwritten rule #45753 of Acmlm's Board: The more code changes it requires, the less likely it'll ever happen. Adding any fields or tables to the database counts as about 6144 changes, even if it only takes a few.

Because having to go through five different pages when a simple feature that would stop showing itself after X days and won't "clutter" the forum is perfectly fine.

Yeah.

Did you bother to even read my post? It deals with this 'clutter'... there's not even that many threads moved.

Yeah, I like the idea about them cleaning themselves up after a few days

And I'm sure most of the new people on this forum don't check their Threads page to find things, and what happens if it's a thread you didn't post in or start and you wanna know where it went? (ie, you were planning to respond... or something)
