Just been announced today.

Personally, I think Craig would totally own in the role. And for all the people who disagree because 'he doesnt look like bond' or anything else.......go read the novel.

I'm just glad they didn't put an American in the role... That would've been disasterous! Time will tell if a bond prequel will pay off, and no doubt fans will be eagerly examining the film for it's legitimacy against the book.

Not sure if a young bond getting to grips with his famous sexuality will win the audience again, but it'll certainly be different. It's a nice change from Brosnan, at the least

I wouldn't have minded Clive Owen, but I haven't seen anything with Craig in it. I wanna see Layer Cake, but I haven't yet.

That being said, I liked Pierece, may his Bond soul rest in peace.

No way, he doesn't look like bond. Pierce Brosnan was a good bond. I don't like the look of this guy. Worst bond yet!

I dont know what your problem is, i think he looks the part and will do a great job. Casino Royale isnt a prequel, its a remake of the one they already did. Casino Royale was going to have Connery in it, but it got passed on and it became a comedy with Peter Sellers. Now they want to do it right.

hmmmmmmm. let me try and explain this all, with my immense knowledge of teh bond:

Casino Royale was the first James Bond book penned by author Ian Fleming in 1952. The story to the novel is that of relatively new 00 agent James Bond being sent out to a casino in paris, Casino Royale, to stop a SMERSH operative, Le Chiffre (The Number) from winning millions in a game of baccaratt that would go straight into the Russian government's pocket. On the way he falls in love with his working partner, Vesper Lynd, and goes under a brutal torture scene involving a certain part of his anatomy which im not going to disclose. (Read the book!)

Now, in the mid 60's, Peter Sellers and Woody Allen decided to make a SPOOF of the james bond series. They based this on the novel Casino Royale. However, when I say based, all that existed from the novel was the name. The film version consisted around james bond's son trying to save the world from killer robot women.

Now the reason EON, the rightful owners and makers of the official bond series havent adapted the Casino Royale novel yet, is because the name was previously owned by Woody Allen's production company. But recently, Sony and MGM have merged. This has given EON the rights to all the bond films, books and names apart from that of Blofeld/Spectre which is owned by a guy called Kevin Mclory.

So, the next bond film, Casino Royale, is a straight adaption of the first bond film. And in all aspects, CAN be called a prequel, seeing as its set at the start of bond's career. And it is IN NO WAY related to the 1960''s bond spoof of the same name, which is more akin to the Austin Powers films.
