The XBox DVD-Rom drive has some sort of odd connecter to power it. Does anyone know of any tutorials on how to convert it into a molex connecter? You know: Like which wires go where and stuff?

You think anyone here would know more than say an XBox forum, or Google? Besides, sounds like a horrid idea when DVD burners are cheap as hell and XBoxes aren't.

1. I'm too poor to buy a DVD-Rom drive.
2. I have a broken XBox. The hard drive is toast.
3. An XBox DVD-Rom drive would be cool.

I've asked on an xbox forum. I've searched Google. I can't find anything... >>

This is simply not possible, an xbox DVD-ROM drive reads discs differently than a normal DVD-ROM and theres no firmware created to use it on a PC. Im sure theres many other issues than those, but its simply not possible and not the best idea. Go blow 30 bucks on a DVD burner.

Haha. Yeah right. I used my XBox to power the DVD-Rom drive as I had the IDE cable in my computer. It WORKED. Just using the XBox to power the DVD-Rom drive all the time when the XBox needs a TV or it will automatically turn off is a little annoying.

Wow, I could've sworn I read somewhere on http://www.xbox-scene.com that an xbox DVD-ROM isn't supposed to work on a PC.

Honestly I still wouldn't do it, it has to be annoying having your xbox,TV, and PC right next to each other along with the limited capabilitys of the xbox dvd drive.

Read the post man. I want to rewire the DVD power connecter to molex. In case you didn't know, Molex is the standard power connecter for hard drives, cd rom drives, and dvd-rom drives. If it was molex, I would be able to put it in my computer without my xbox, TV, and PC right next eactother. And xbox-scene says that an xbox DVD-Rom doesn't work on Windows. It works on Linux, though.
