Dunno why I decided to post this, but I did. I was using some of these images as wallpapers (rotating between them and other various images... program's almost ready for a beta release ), and I noticed they were kind of crappy quality, so I touched them up. Left side is original, right side is enhanced.

954x1077, 733K (Yeah, it's big. )

You can see a huge improvement in the flesh (especially #3) and some other areas. (#1 didn't come out too well, since the original image wasn't too great, but you can see it in the hands and face.) All I did was fill in the lighter flesh colour with the darker one, then put a gradient overtop (using the light flesh colour and going from 0 to 100% translucency). For the clothes it was the same but I had to make the gradient 75% translucent so as not to overpower the original colours. All in all it took about 2 minutes per image.

Oh, and I didn't do the cape in #3 because the colour matches the background too closely for the wand tool and I was too lazy to select it manually. I may do that later.

Top image: do you realise the lighting source on the cape and the skin are coming from different angles? in your modified version. I actually like the original's coloring better.
Middle: Again, the light is coming off the top for the hands, but seems to come from the right for the legs, can I say ftw?
Bottom: except for the touchups on her black clothes, I like this one, easily the best of the bunch.

I don't know about you, but they all seem really blurry to me. The skin on the last one is awesome. Even I am not to sure how you did that ...

The middle one would be cool if it were the same brightness as the others. It kinda doesn't fit with the darkness of the pics.

I am looking forward to the program by the way. The one I am using now is a resource hog...but it does change depending on weather, time of day, and season so...

(its called Natural Desktop if you want to check it out. 20 bucks to buy...nothing a crack can't fix tho).

That looks cool, but it seems a little out of place for some reason...

Raven, Teen Titans. About the pic, it's really good, but wouldn't it be smaller as a JPEG?

Yep, it´d be smaller but it´d also be of less quality.

Yeah, I considered JPEG, but figured it'd be too low quality. Suppose I could post a JPEG version when I get home, though, for you poor dialup users. (Dunno why it came out so big in the first place... )

Barter: They're not meant to be a set; they're 3 different images. I just put them all into one file.

Setzer: Yes, the bottom is definitely the best one. The light sources were difficult to line up... I really had trouble matching the colours on these. If you look close, the different flesh tones don't line up at all and the legs are at impossible angles in some cases. Good catch on the first one, though... I drew the gradient backward, apparently. (Maybe we can just pretend it's shining through from the other side of the cape... Eh, I'll probably fix it later.)

Like I said, these represent a total of about 6 minutes worth of touchups, so I wouldn't have expected them to come out perfect. I'll probably do more intricate versions later, but I'm at school right now.

Hyper: no hard feelings, realising that shading = lightsources is a common mistake, and realising how the light will reflect off the skin is another thing to do altogether, kinda complicated, but you get used to it.

Yeah, just a simple mistake... though actually, look at the original. The animator seems to have made the same error (which is probably why I did). Anyway, working on improved versions now...

Alright, #1 is done. I corrected the light angle on the cape, made the lighting on the clothes a lot more subtle, and touched up the hands and cape bits near them a bit. Also, I added another gradient to the left side of the cape, to make it darker as it gets further from the light source, since it stretches so far away. (Yes, if you look at the BG the light source would seem to be at the top, but I went from the side. The BG sucks anyway. )
Now that I think about it, it almost looks like those clothes should be a lot more reflective... guess it depends on the material. It looks like a sort of leather or something, but that'd probably be pretty uncomfortable.

Working on #2... Done. I turned up (yes, up ) the contrast to make it a bit darker, closer to the other 2. Cleaned up a lot of the fuzziness, made much more noticable shading on the cape, and put the hands' light source at the right angle this time.

And now #3... Done. Made the clothes' shading a lot less intense, shaded the cape (kinda hard to see, but it's there), and fixed up a little glitch in the original (look around the thighs, there's a small chunk missing from her clothes ).

954x1077, JPG, 75K or PNG, 613K if you're particularly anal about quality.

Also, I uploaded individual images of each, in case you want to use them as wallpapers. They're not wallpaper-sized, but that's what the Stretch option is for.
All are 480x360.
#1: JPG, 36K or PNG, 130K
#2: JPG, 42K or PNG, 136K
#3: JPG, 35K or PNG, 128K
If you use a high resolution and can stand the wait, I'd suggest using the PNGs for wallpapers, since a JPG stretched that much will probably be pretty ugly.
